It’s a schist, not Quartz, granite , or marble. Avoid it at all costs without a top notch fabricator. It will crumble in your hand.

I am a fabricator. Some fabricators have a photo based layout system that takes high res pics of the slabs and then allows the fabricator to merge the proposed cutout pieces so you can see the grain transitions. The resulting pics can be emailed to you. The only watch out is that the color rendition on a computer screen or even a good 4 color printer is inherently inaccurate so if the exact hue of the stone is important you can't rely on the emailed pics. (I used to be in the printing business so I am aware of the limitations of 4 color printing.)

You can get the exact color by having the fabricator send you a sample as long as the amount of color variation in the slab allows for using a small piece. Schist typically has a lot of color variation.

And Sophie is correct, schist is a very difficult stone to work with. We do it in my shop but we always estimate significant additional shop labor hours.

Cosmos quartz is a private label quartz from Cosmos Granite and Marble. This is what the OP is referring to.

Can anyone confirm is Cosmos Quartz is high quality and if it follows the Brenton process? Considering their Nova Grey color and want to make sure we're going to have a quality product from Cosmos. Appreciate any feedback!!

My daughter recently installed quartz from Cosmos Granite and Marble. It is beautiful and problem free. She chose a carrara marble look. The finish and function are comparable to my Caesarstone. She has a busy household with 3 kids and does not baby the counter.

A friend of mine installed Tropical White Cosmos quartz in her rental property and it looks great with the white cabinets and is holding up really well.

Debi, what do you mean by ‘real quartz’? If by engineered quartz, theirs is as real as anybody else’s- a mix of glue, pigment, and quartz mixed together and smooshed into a sheet. They also import genuine quartzite counters- like taj mahal. Regarding where the engineered quartz is made they have switched their production to India because of the tariffs.
