Eyes blasted!

I have a couple of Ti's.. older and in pots. Red Sister is one.. Some kind of pink is the other. Ti's are much more cold sensitive,snail magnets! One huge advantage the hybrid Cordys have over the Ti's is...they are much less water needy. Even can be thrifty. Actually,mix Ti's and Cordys and Phormiums like those dazzling yellow's and you got a great garden that looks fresh all year. Well,other then the Ti's here in spring after a freeze. This year we skipped that-whew- so my Ti's look ok.

I had a Cordyline Red Star in a pot, and it got rootbound and died. They do well in my neighborhood when planted in the ground, but I decided that they were too common and did not get another one. I do like the ones with the bright red leaves, but my brother does not, and so I have not gotten one.

I like Lars- the hardest to find,a Purple Cordy. I've only seen one in person,and its really a great showpiece. It's a big plant too..multi trunked. Still,all are easy to keep in bounds with pruning.

They keep getting brighter and brighter.

I have one I purchased as Black Magic. It has leaves that turn nearly black as they age. Its not bright but still pretty cool.

That's dark...but the Cordy I saw was truly black. It also was in flower. I knew I should have bought it!

This one gets darker the more shade it gets. The more sun the more green, brown tones. I would love to have a totally purple one! Maybe purple with lilac tints :)
