I think it really depends on whether homes are selling fast in your neighborhood these days. And perhaps it depends on how "un-neutral" or "doesn't-make-sense" your current paint colors are.

I wouldn't spend thousands to prep a house for sale, but that might be because of where I live, (HCOL) where homes are selling like hotcakes and there is low inventory. And then if the house didn't sell right away, I might consider an inexpensive refresh.

I'd ask a realtor. They can see what you have now and judge it in the context of your market. I am disinclined to do anything but repairs, cleaning and de-cluttering.

I agree. I also think you need to see your competition. See what is selling fast and what is lingering.

You mentioned in the original thread that downstairs was a neutral gray. Maybe you could leave that and just to the bedrooms if they are not as neutral.

It comes down to how you price your home. Given a good deal, I think most people don't mind painting if that is all they have to do.

Good idea to see what realtors think and to post in Buying and Selling. I suppose also if we get a lot of traffic the first month with no offers, we’ll get feedback on problem areas. Thank all.
