best flooring for finished basement?

We have a finished basement that currently has carpet. We have wanted to replace it for a while, but last weekend the sewer backed up and flooded a small part of the basement. Now replacing it has become a priority.

We are considering wood-look vinyl or laminate and would install it ourselves. I know tile is probably best, but I’m afraid it’s probably our of our price range. I’m leaning toward vinyl for the utility factor, but am afraid it would deter potential buyers as “cheap” if we sold the house in a few years. We have laminate in another part of our home and I’ve been turned off by it because it scratches so easily.

Which would you pick?

Considerations: our master bedroom and daughter’s bedroom are in the basement along with an extra living space that really just has our treadmill.
