Help with balance needed

I would like to keep the portraits in the foyer, but the one on the left is smaller. Do you have suggestions or examples
for adding wall art above or below the smaller frame?

I agree the mirror could be larger. I have a carved one that might work, but needs to be painted. It is 32 x 48 and could be used upright. The current one is 27 x 34. What color? I could frame the larger portrait to match the smaller since it was framed most recently. Measure twice next time.
