Thanks, Joseph. They just used a shop vac while the cutting tool was running. Not sure what they used to cut the quartz with. This is supposed to be a reputable company who has worked with a famous TV personality on HGTV. By the time they were finished, you couldn't tell that I had a wood floor. It was covered completely in thick dust. It has been two days now. They came out with Pine Sol today, which made me laugh. Basically, after the floor is mopped and dry, the white film is visible again and feels gritty to the touch. They are sending a professional steam cleaning company out next week. I just wonder if I am going to have any finish left on my floor after all this.

annaattard the fine stone dust will take some time to get rid of, as it will be coming from everywhere else it is. Walls, cupboards etc.

A timber floor microfibre will help catch it and get rid of the film.

If it is gritty then it is larger particles of quartz or stone which will scratch you timber floors. So try and keep on to of it.

It does not matter what system you use there is always some dust, but some systems minimise it to the area, not through the house.

Just a little hint, if you wet the floor or use something wet or damp you will spread the dust everywhere. You need to get the dust off dry or most of it 90%+ . Meaning you will be just chasing your tail trying to get rid of it.

It is because the dust is so fine.

Thank you. The quartz company would like to send out Stanley Steamer to steam clean our floors. Is this a good idea?

Apparently, they have “never had this problem before” and “no one has ever complained” before. Very frustrating.

I’m not sure they could look worse. They are scratched and barely have a finish on them now. Any scratches or gaps I had originally are magnified by the dust stuck in them.

I would make them pay to have them refinished.

Stanley Steamer couldn’t clean them. Trying another company tomorrow.

The are dull because they have been scratched and scuffed. No cleaning will fix this. They simply need to be repaired

Going through the same thing now. My newly painted cabinets look dreadful.
