Both are beautiful. I would wonder if the weave of the first would allow more food to be trapped? It looks like a looser weave...

The second one is less visually jarring IMO, so I vote for that one. The table runner is “too much”....remove it, and you will be creating more visual interest for the table itself. You may want to reconsider the box also...I love the idea of greenery on a table as centerpiece, but the box is too tall and heavy for the greens inside. Its the handle that’s throwing the proportions off. A longer , lower box with the greenery would be fab!

Please continue to look, while colors are not true on computer screens the one rug appears to be too gray to go with your warmed-toned dining table and the other one doesn't really do anything for the room. IMHO

They’re too light with the dark floors and chairs. I can’t tell what colors the walls are, but I would look at rugs more like these -not these colors or textures, but visual weight. I agree with the comment about removing the table runner and finding a different container for the greenery.

Thanks everyone. I agree that the centerpiece is too large and needs to live elsewhere. I’ll keep looking for other options. Ideally the space would look great with a tight woven jute rug - but having had one in my dining room before, they’re just not great for living with dogs and a baby. I’m looking for visual texture, if that make sense, as opposed to pattern.
