Unable to finish my post - looking for seeds, mainly herbs for Western New York, zone 5; any considered. Just starting, not much to trade in return.

Kari, we don't have a marketplace here in the Gardenweb, but if you have anything to trade, the Exchange Forums may be helpful.

Rev. Kari_wny_zone5 thanked rhizo_1 (North AL) zone 7

Thank you. I'll keep looking as all the posts I've been finding are from like 2013 and older.

Howdy neighbor, (to Kari in Western NYS)! Most any herb that can be treated like a summer annual (ex. basil) can be indoor started or direct sown plus all your zone 5 cold hardy perennials will work for you. I live in the Finger Lakes/Greater Rochester Area. My zone used to be 5 but I was rezoned to 6 a number of years back. Some zone 6 plants work for me and some don't. Rosemary, even "Arp," is one that doesn't. Thyme doesn't do overly well either. But sage and lavender are real champs. Make sure you have great drainage for them. Pooling water will kill them. Mints, basil, lovage, cilantro/coriander, holy basil, garlic (hardneck), chives, and oregano all do well.
