counter materials

Hi, what are the different counter materials? Especially the island and the small piece of grey quartz (?) where the toaster is. How many different counter materials are used in this kitchen? It all goes so well together.

Hello Sara, believe it or not there is only one counter material used for this kitchen. It is a quartzite called White Macaubas. I think the photo/daylight in this kitchen may make it seem like more than one material. Quartzites are natural stone, harder than granite, often with a marble look that people desire for a kitchen. (Marble is too porous for kitchen applications.) There is often quite a variance in quartzite slabs from lot to lot, meaning from where and when a particular group of slabs are cut, so be sure to request slabs all from the same lot should you require more than one for your kitchen. Quartzite is at the upper end of the cost spectrum, partially because it is more labor intensive to fabricate and currently in high demand. Hope that helps!
