Laura your plants look especially beautiful with the snow as your back drop. Laura lol I am guessing everyone there has a snow day , better than here it can snow 3ft and everything will remain open . Glad that you all down there are taking this snowstorm for the team .

Laura, wow! your orchids are amazing! Are you getting all those to rebloom? How do you handle them in the summer time? I've got two reblooming now. Mine enjoy being hung in trees for the summer. Ants can be a problem, along with some kind of bacterial leaf spot.

Brian, lol...yes, we are taking one for the team. The kids have had a blast and as long as we don’t lose power, I’m happy. Dave, my oldest phaleonopsis is about 23! She blooms every year and this year has three stems! She’s nothing fancy, just a white Phal from Home Depot. I take them outside for summer and put them in the shade. Honestly, last summer I just fed them the same as the citrus and watered them equally. They are very happy...orchids are much more forgiving than citrus. I nestle many among my trees.

Gorgeous trees laura! stay warm in all that snow! We got hit all night but luckily the ground was slightly warm and the temp went up to 55 today. It all melted by 1. Thank goodness haha. UGH what a way to start spring!

Laura, as usual AMAZING!!! You always bring me joy and a smile. Yours are beautiful. You are even doing a better job at growing your indoor orchids than I. I stink at it.

I too am having TONS of leaf drop and a few dead branches. There is only so much I can do with such a long cloudy winter cold. It really is getting hard on my trees and I. I pray they can be outside again soon as they were in February of all months! Great job and thank you for sharing these pics, this thread.

I've had collapsed houses, downed trees, feet of snow, winds of over 60 3 times and now another Nor Easter tonight with way below temps for the next week. Depressing quite actually. 6 to 12 inches tonight for me( It's the first time in years I can not see my ground under 2 feet of snow for so many days.

Everything of mine (citrus, a small avocado tree, a small mango tree) is shoved in our office room, with two taotronics lights suspended from the ceiling and the overhead halogen spots pointing at the plants. Another two dwarf banana plants and a larger avocado, plus two overwintered chilis, are just hanging out in our dining room hopefully surviving in low light for a couple days. All my seedlings, which I WAS hardening off, are in the basement under two more LEDs. At least all my orchids are happy scattered around the house near various windows. Argh c'mon spring!

Thanks Amanda and Mike! Amanda, I’m glad you guys did not get much snow. Mike, I’m sorry you’ve gotten so much! I am so sick of winter! My trees desperately need to go outside and get hosed off. I found two with scale that had gone undetected...yuck! Once outside, I will thoroughly disinfect them.

Lucky, it sounds like you have an indoor jungle as well. I’ve tried growing avocado and mango without success.

Keep trying Laura! I've had 2 avocado seeds sprout and grow for me out of the 15 or so I tried to sprout lol. The very first root takes so long to poke out of the seed that I ended up neglecting most of them halfway through and they don't survive. I managed to have the patience to grow out 2 seeds though.

I started my first avocado seed suspended in water last year in April and didn't see any sign of real growth until June when a root tip started showing. My second avocado I started during summer and it sprouted its root a bit quicker but it was still very slow to sprout too. You can definitely grow one too Laura! You'll just have to go through every avocado seed you encounter until you get a winner lol
