Would you reframe it? Any suggestions on frame style?

Art is not a part of decor. Art stands alone. Your print is gorgeous. Of course you are going to display it. I do think you could frame it to much better advantage. Go to a real framing store and discuss this with them. Their experience and knowledge of what is available can cost a fortune, but is well worth it if you want to elevate any piece of art. Do not bother reframing the print if you are going to just do another iteration of what you have now- see if there is something really spectacular available to you.

So what if you incorporated a couple of these (in the colors of the print) into the mat?...JUST the black bits..

I would only add a slight scattering of three or five into 2 opposing corners (and fade them out gradually smaller about 4-6 inches)...

It would add a touch of mcm and if you use the colors in the print (exact colors and I would just do the blue and black) it would tie in the print itself...

You could use a sharpie and ruler and maybe watercolors...idk you would have to experiment a little on a like surface.

Also yes to painting the frame black.

Like I said, I am not an expert on framing, but maybe it would be nice to float your print between two pieces of glass with the glass riveted together. You could mount the print on a deckle edged paper.

Or a teak frame...

This is an acrylic frame from Crate and Barrel.

For best results you would want something sized perfectly for your print and any backing you might choose, so a custom shop might be the only choice, unless you are very lucky- which happens :-)

At any rate, it's just one possibility. Real framers have many, many tricks up their sleeves that yield spectacular results.

By all means, hang it! It's very interesting.

What else do you have hanging in the room?

It can be a good idea if there is unity in the frames, although there doesn't have to be.

For example, if your other frames are all black, you could paint this frame black.

But if it it is too much of a deal to take this one apart, then don't.

It looks fine, and the gold picks up the bit of gold in the picture.

You could if you want use some of the blue and/or grey in the picture in some of the other things in your room.

Right now, nothing. i'm trying to rebuild the design of my living room, throwing out all of the "we bought it because we needed a couch" stuff. I recently inherited this from my mom and thought it would be a good place to start in refurnishing my living room. I've got a lamp with the same type of mottled gold finish and I'll post some pictures in a while. Watch this space

This lamp has the same type of finish that the picture frame does. The band around the bottom of the shade is made from gold beads and is lighter than it looks in this picture. I bought it two years ago before I decided to switch decor styles. While I'm not going to choose my furnishings based on a lamp, I think it will fit in well with what I'm planning.

if wanting more mcm, then yes, go have it reframed. i don't like the gold for the mcm,,,you need more black and white w/the matting. I'd also see if they could make it a bit larger for you w/matting and framing if you want to hang this over your sofa. as is, 42" really isn't wide enough to stand alone behind a sofa. somewhere else maybe, yes.

One possible place might be over the (not yet bought) sideboard in the dining room. It opens onto the living room and if you stand in the foyer and look through the living room into the DR it would be on the wall directly facing you; the picture would be over DH's head. We'll be painting the DR probably BMs Shaker Beige above the chair rail so nobody scream when you see the burgundy walls. DH uses our dining room as his office but we've finished remodeling a bedroom so it can be his office. Right now, the gate over the door keeps the dogs out of the LR,

We've just finished painting my son's room and we'd covered the furniture so we could stack boxes, musical instruments etc on it. That's why the LR is so messy. My story and I'm sticking to it.
