last modified: 8 years ago

Looking for deign help with our eat in kitchen. I like the idea of a chair rail and a buffet table the buffet table would mean that I have to not have a rectangular table which is kind of what I would prefer. Any advice and pics would be great!

This looks nice. The floors will be changed soon to some kind of tile.

Tile floors, porcelain and ceramic, will scratch. Use caution about the bottoms of chair legs, check them often to make sure the glides / pads are not worn...ditto any tables with multiple legs.

Paint out the door: it chops up the wall. Put table and chairs on a sturdy rug. Replace the postage stamps with considerable larger art/posters.

I would go a beige tile.

Thanks everyone. Yes I think I want to go with a light beige tile. Does it matter if it is porcelain or ceramic? This linoleum came with the him but I don’t really like it. I wouldn’t mind linoleum that mimics ceramic though. I like that whatever I drop doesn’t break in this floor. Our cabinets are navy blue and beige countertops so that’s where the blue in the floor comes in.

As far as the wall art I had a very large circular mirror but it fell and broke so I haven’t replaced it. I will look for some wall art this week. Maybe two large pieces of canvas??

Big difference between porcelain tile and ceramic. Ceramic is clay. Subject to cracking and chipping. Porcelain thru is stronger and won’t crack, chip or break under normal wear. With your door coming into the area, a highbacked bench seat with oval table would be great in this spot remove everything else. Be back with some choices.

We need to get measurements but a concept like this would be interesting. Style would be up to you.

It's a breakfast nook, not a dining room. I'd keep it really simple. Wouldn't even do a rug in this small space.

I like the pictures you guys added. Thank you. It’s definitely giving me some good ideas. I wasn’t sure if I shld add any window treatments to the sliding doors or not

I really like the hardwood flooring. We were trying to decide if we would go that route or not. The living room floors which are right off of the kitchen are a very dark wood laminate so I’m not sure if it will work well together or not.

With adjoining room you will have “height of materials” problem. Also, two woods butted up together is not a good look. See if you can find out how think wood floor is in adjoining room. Then you will know what direction to take on your floor.

Ok, it looks like a wood trim transition piece so tile will probably work well. Get a good tiler to come to the house and assess so you select proper material.

If you don't do curtains at least change to a seagrass blind or something other than the 80's verticals
