It's been about three weeks and all seems well with my newly repotted JMs. First fert of the year will come shortly.
Not content to leave well enough alone, I went out and bought several trays of Chocolate Chip Ajuga, Sedum (Stonecrop), and Creeping Jenny with the intention of using them in the JM containers - the JMs are all planted in the middle of their containers and I want to drop a few plugs of the ground cover around them. The directions on the trays say to gently scratch the soil surface, place a few plugs, and water. I don't want to disturb the roots of the JMs.
From what I've read the Ajuga seems like a slightly better choice for my venture. If someone says this is a bad idea I'd like to know. One day the JMs will outgrow their current containers and either be placed in the ground or in larger containers. Will the surrounding ground cover present a problem?
In addition to the ground cover, I also have some Korean Rock Ferns, Autumn Ferns, and Golden Japanese Forest Grass. Are any of these suitable?
