Madagascar Damage

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone can help me with my Madagascars. During a deep freeze (I live in FL, so deep freeze for us is 30F and below lol) two of my Maddy's tops sunk in. I want to cut off the tops to remove the damage, so they can recover. The trunks are firm, so I know there is healthy tissue below. I read that you can cut tops off, but they have to remain in an a hot, dry environment. So does anyone know how long that time is? And what is considered too cold/hot?

Bringing them inside is not an option. One of them is in a pot that's over 75lbs, and their both roughly over 3' tall.

Any help would be great!

Thank you!

I don't have pics right now, but I can get some if anyone wants to see.
