Does that $38 include shipping? Roses Unlimited might have it in stock for $20, not sure if shipping is included there. If you live east of the Rocky Mountains, you might be able to get it from Long Ago Roses for $17.95 plus $11 shipping.

If you wait till the next bare root season, you can order from David Austin or Regans Nursery for $28 plus shipping. Heirloom Roses sells it for $45 plus shipping, though it's currently out of stock, you can probably get it if you subscribe. I'm not sure who else sells it.

I bought mine from Heirloom for $40 with free shipping, before their prices went up...and before I knew about these other vendors...they don't come up on a google search for Evelyn for me. It was out of stock at the time as well, so I subscribed and waited and waited until it finally came up for sale. It's a little under 2yrs old, but I already love my Evelyn, the flowers are amazing.

I don't believe it did include shipping. I will check Roses Unlimited. I searched several places and it was out of stock, but I don't really remember where I looked! lol I was frustrated! It is always that way for me...dying for one rose and can't get it. I just really can't afford $38 to $40 for one rose. I mean, I can, but I just can't justify it. (I am kinda a tightwad...budget land here these days...) My hubby is responsible for his Dad and Sister. His sisters health is really bad and we have to pay sitters. She has minimal income so there are times when we have to pitch in. We basically run 4 house holds...but my moms house is closing on april 6th, so that will be one less thing to worry about! Gracious, getting old is not for the fainthearted, but it sure beats the alternative!

Just to add, I am not complaining!! My family would do it for me!!! Just the reason for my budgeting right now...lol My sister in law is having a really hard time. Hasn't driven a car in about 8 years.

Ah, makes sense. I can relate to your need to budget. Spending $40 on a rose is a luxury for me as well, but I really wanted Evelyn, as ownroot and guaranteed virus free, above all the others I was looking at at the time. I had already wasted $ by buying one from ebay that turned out to be Abe Darby that I ended up losing that same summer. I can’t order a lot of roses and have to be very picky and do lots of research to narrow down which roses I really want. I was so disappointed, from then on I decided if I really want something, I’ll get it from a reputable source.

From my limited experience, I’d say Evelyn is worth it. Others may disagree, but she does well here, maybe because I have a long growing season. I’d have offered to send cuttings, but I prune in January and I don’t have any stems for clipping now. I also don’t know if cuttings would survive in the mail outside my zone in January.

Mad, maybe we will win the lottery one day and buy whatever we want, when we want! I am zone 8b. It was in the 80s yesterday. Beautiful day. I spent it cleaning out my moms house. Finally have a contract on it and He closing is April 6th. So much stuff! My oldest daughter has been living there while it was listed (2 years). We left it furnished so it would show well. Now, it’s crunch time. I did get in my yard late yesterday afternoon to check my roses! You know we can’t miss a bloom!

If Evelyn is off patent (pretty sure she is) I will send cuttings, provided I have some. Still too early here to tramp around in the mud to see. I was out there a few weeks ago during a spell of nice weather, but it's been horrible since then. Don't get your hopes up too high just yet. I will let you know if I have any. Starting with cuttings is a slow process, but better than nothing. Evelyn is a rose everyone should have.

Flowermusic you are too kind! I am in no rush. I don’t feel like an angel, just doing what they would do for me! That is what family is for. I will admit, it is overwhelming at times, but that’s what our gardens are for! A bit of heaven on earth! I can go out in the yard and all my worries melt away. My biggest concern is whether to move something or not .

Well, I decided to just bite the bullet and buy Evelyn...everyone is sold out. Figures! lol
