Ok, I have a question. I know that unrooted leaves put down for propagation purposes don't need water with fertilization in it to grow new babies. I had not heard that accidental use of treated water would hinder propagation efforts. I do that every once in a while out of sheer convenience. Maybe I am missing something here? Am I damaging my chances of success with this occasional practice?

Well, this is what I have noticed everytime.. If I put fresh leaves down and they dont have roots and Inuse my regular fertilized water it burns them and they crisp up.

Maybe its just me but I have seen it over and over. Have learned my lesson for my growing habits.

I am too lazy to separate leaves and plants when watering... but my frertilizer concentration is on a low side. I do not think it is necessary to fertilize until you have actively growing plantlets... and the concentration should be no more than 1/8 of a teaspoon and probably not every watering.

Yeah, I use 1/4 tsp per half gallon of dyna grow (which is what violet barn uses and does every watering).

The only other thing I can think of is because they were so cold when Took them out of the package and immediately cutting and placing them in the soil maybe thats what did it?

They got like brown dried strips through the leaves... never had it before or seen it so I am not sure..

As long as the fertilizer is dilute enough, the leaves should be OK. The problem arises when the leaves take longer than usual to produce plantlets, the fertilizer salts can accumulate to the point of damaging the babies. If you notice a build up, flush the soil with plain water and allow paper towels to soak up the excess.
