Really nice room, especially for a basement bedroom! Love the light fixtures.

I would add trim around the windows and paint it a bright, semi-gloss white. I would also paint the inside of the window wells with the same paint to reflect more natural light. We did this in our basement and it made everything brighter and the windows look bigger.

Yes, I have to hem the curtains. I did have the entire wall behind the bed hung with the burlap kitchen but that takes too much room and makes the walkway between the bed and the dresser feel too constructive. Also as it is a basement in Cape Cod I don't want to have too much fabric there. We don't have a musty smell and I don't want that to. Become an issue. With just the current curtains I can wash frequently but with a wall of curtains that gets onerous.

Thank you. We liked the idea of sconces to free up room on bedside tables. This room also use to have a drop ceiling. I just painted the room and painted the window well area with the same color of the walls (Sherwin Williams Anew Grey) because I did not want to call attention to the ugly windows, was that a mistake? We do plan on trimming out the windows. I was thinking of perhaps putting up plantation shutters. If I did this should I get shutters that are bigger than the windows and if so how would I mount them?

Okay my question is where is the egress window in this space and why not just remove the trellis stuff from the windows

Definitely trim out the windows. Then add some simple cellular shades, or maybe fabric roller shades, that work with your curtains.

There are two large windows on the side with the burlap curtains which allow plenty of room for egress. Those two large windows overlook aN enclosed porch area. The porch is surround with the lattice and has lots of summer bloom. Currently is is natural wood color but next winter I will use a light paint/stain to brighten up that area. It has table that seats four. I plan to buy four different bright colored Adirondack chairs to go around the table. The trellis is not attached to the Windows. Over that side of the house is a balcony with trellis running all along that side of the house. The trellis has climbing roses, clematis and climbing hydrangeas. They are not trained on the part of the trellis by the window as we don't want to obscure the light.

I had not thought of roller shades. I am clueless when it comes to window coverings, thank you.

What about the picture over the bed - I thought it went with the bedding and had the coastal vibe I am going for, opinions?
