The only one I've grown is Orange Marmalade. It's really pretty in the spring, but turns to "ugly" in the summer.

My Orange Marmalade is in deep shade and stays good looking most of the year, but it is parchment colored by season end. New leaves are orange then fade. Mini Skirt and Waterslide are new in my garden, but did ok their first year.

i have Valley’s Lemon Squash coming this spring myself and am very excited about it!

Almost all of these are very new to the trade, so there won't be many folks who can evaluate them. I have 400 hosta cultivars but only one of these: Mini Skirt, which as a mini gets a separate treatment under performance. Heather, 'Emerald Ruff Cut' is gorgeous, but it is most decidedly NOT a good grower. It will be slow even under your best garden conditions. I don't think I've ever seen one with more than 10 eyes.

Orange Marmalade grows well but the color does fade in my semi-shade backyard. Just got Valley's Lemon Squash and Mini Skirt last year so it's much too early to tell.

Got also Waterslide in September, first TC, not much to say about it yet...but it looks promising...

peren, I hope my second one will look as good as yours one day. Will get it next week and I'm really looking forward to it. My first one died over winter because of a problem with the potting media I used then, so not the hosta's fault...

Wow, that is a spectacular 'Emerald Ruff Cut'. Maybe it likes Canada. For a look that's almost as good in a hosta that grows really well, consider 'Journey's End'.

Orange Marmalade was one of my first hostas to kick the bucket!

Orange Marmalade was a very poor grower for me. I eventually composted it. Emerald Ruff Cut was slow but beautiful.

Just more examples of plants' preferences sometimes. I lost ERC, but Orange Marmalade is having no trouble, even in a somewhat dry locale. I've also lost 2 different attempts at Solar Flare...supposed to be a vigorous grower.

Hi Amanda, welcome! It took us a while to get used to it too. I don't see your new post. On the main page as soon as you close this thread you will see an example box right under Hosta Forum, that is where you would put your title such as "Can you ID these?

Under that there is a box where you can write (or cut&paste what you wrote) "I have established a trusted green thumb. The pictures were taken today. I'd like to identify each hosta. Any help?" Add your pics and click submit.

In defense of Orange Marmalade, it grows vigorously for me in zone 4b, does not get limp in its dry spot, and holds well through August into September when most white-centered hostas are crispy. It is an eye-catcher that glows like a spotlight among these perennials.
