Something like this that hangs down into your sink might work well if you have a height difference between the front and back edges of your sink surface. Plus what ever is in the drainer would be lower and less visable:

Jamie Ludwig Thanks Jamie; Yeah I have an under-mount sink so the back edges is counter-top as is the side, but the immediate front is my sink which is lower by the depth of the counters. I guess the drop in would work. I really liked the roll-out but logistically I don't know if it'd work all that well. May be wishful thinking on my part.

I think it could work as long as you were not trying to use really tall wine glasses or something like that. It would just have a slight incline.

I wonder if there would be something you could lay over the front edge of the sink to raise that up while the roll-up dish-drying rack is in use. But I can't think of anything.

If you knew a woodworker, they could make you an upside-down U-shaped thing w/ a bottom (top) as thick as the counter, and you could coat it w/ tung oil....

I use a stand alone drying rack, but I have a single bowl sink. Brand new installation, not even any backsplash yet.

I don’t have an apron sink but do have a rolll up drying wrack and LOVE it! You can get decent ones for not much $ at multiple places so it wouldn’t cost you much to try it out. I like it so much more than other things we have used for drying!

Jessica - I'm curious if you tried this and if it worked or if you found a solution. I am getting a farmhouse sink and will have the same situation. I've been searching online to see if the roll out racks will work since it will have a slope. I would love to know if it worked or if you found something. Thanks!

Haha, Angie - me too! I guess I'll just order one from Amazon and see how it goes! The one I'm looking at is coated with silicone, so that would make it less slippery. Plus the bars are square instead of round, so that might help too. It's Aquach Rolling Dish Rack Over Sink model.

I have one of those and it stays on the bottom of the warming oven. Useless IMO. I went back to drying mats, easier to store and machine washable.

I had the same problem & also went back to drying mats. The slope from the top of the sink to the apron in front was unsurmountable!

To avoid this problem, simply instruct your top fabricator to allow a 1/2" positive rear sink flange reveal. Now your rack will sit on that and the top of the apron nice and level.

^^This is what I did, but it turns out that there are standard sizes for these rollup racks, and they are either too small or too big, so I have ended up with the slope anyway. I got one with flat bars and coated in silicone and things don't roll.

If you do rest it on the reveal, that works, but it sticks out in the front and I kept bumping into it and knocking things around, so I just rest it on the back. My adjustable colander works fine, though.

What I need is 18.5", give or take a quarter, but they appear to come in 17.5 and 20.5 (which makes sense for standard sink sizes). If anyone sees an 18.5, lmk!

Update: it works great! Time will tell if the little rods get dirty where they adjust, but I guess it doesn't matter since I don't think I will need to readjust. Thanks for the tip.
