Oh, I LOVE the faucet, it is something that I would look at, use, and enjoy countless times a day for years to come, if I could afford something like that, oh boy!

Very cool, love to look at it, but that's something I won't buy. I'd collect a used motorcycle for that price, something with an engine I could ride to chase the wind.

Good job on the counters. Like the look of the faucet, too -- not for myself to use but just to know it exists -- so, thank you; appreciate your taking the time to share the pic.

Cool steampunk faucet. Pointless and overpriced and has no business sitting on top of those particular cabinets. The cabinets are horrible under any circumstances: how do you clean under them? Really clean. And glazed finish? In the 21st century? Ick.

tatts, "how do you clean under them?" I'm guessing you're talking about the swoop down in the middle between the feet. I'd agree, but I have a canister vacuum I use regularly with a thin tube attachment (also used regularly) - that's how.

Used to love the glazed finish, but not the stripey look, more antiqued but lighter in application such as the ones above, which I don't see any glaze (are you thinking the inset is a glaze?), just a very light distressing which I think is appropriate for the whole look thus far.

Yes, I'd also like to see the finished kitchen. Minus the faucet which I personally don't care for and if one needs to mention cost that's just kind of silly, but I think this is a unique and interesting kitchen.

Exactly how I feel. Don't like it, even if it was given to me. And cleaning it would be a b**** - no thanks.

No to the sink as well. But I freaking LOVE the counters! And I have no issue at all with the sink/cooktop distance, looks like a couple of feet and that is what I have - further would be too far for me.

I think my engineer husband would love playing with that faucet and if he would then help out more in the kitchen, it would be worth every penny ;^)

Catt, you work in stone fabrication right? Perhaps after Catt was finished with the counter tops, the owner was tired of having people in and out, and just wanted a bit of peace. Or perhaps the owner did not give further permission to have photos shown online. Correct me if my assumptions are wrong :)

yes i am in fabrication. After my job is done it is up to the customer to send us after photos once the kitchen has been completed. He never sent any in. therefore i do not have any.

I am laughing as there is a kitchen design store in a mall in S CA and my kids were playing with that exact faucet the entire time we looked at the cabinets. You think someone would have chased them off the $4k faucet. It does work very smoothly and is well balanced but not sure $4k but money is relative to what you have.

Not sure about some of the earlier comments here. I feel reasonably confident someone who is choosing a $4,000 faucet is not skipping out on vacations or art work for it. There are people out there who just have a lot of money to spend on whatever they desire and are rarely making an "either or" choice like that (I am not one of them but know a few!). They are people who just don't need to debate over a $4,000 faucet the same way I would debate over a $400 versus $500 one.

The kitchen is not at all my style (the farmhouse-y distressed cabinet, rustic hardware and plumbing thing) but @Catt Combs the counter & sink does look beautiful; you did a great job!

Also @palimpsest I would be one of first in line for a bathroom like that! Just need a little hideaway for the power washer to clean it all down!

Yeah we were going to... disappointed we didnt get to go back. I believe the homeowner sold the home after it was finished.

A friend just got this faucet.

My youngest son wanted to learn to hand wash dishes ;-) I can't say that I love this faucet in particular, the sprayer on top looks really awkward. But I do love the industrial, steampunk look in general.

I have the money to buy that faucet if i so wanted. Honestly, you would have to pay me $4000 to put that thing in my kitchen. It is not pretty :) In my opinion. But i like the counters!

Rita, I also like the steampunk look - not so much full-on industrial steampunk (although I think it's fascinating). There are many, many variations and interpretations of steampunk. We are actually incorporating a little bit into my husband's man-cave/shared tv room at his request.

It is interesting, but not for me, maybe in a brew pub...
I do find it interesting that the owner would be telling a counter top fabricator how much his/her faucet cost??

You are making assumptions there.

I doubt the owner volunteered the cost, it's easy enough to look it up online. Here in Canada, that faucet is going to set you back closer to $8,000.

@cookncarpenter - that faucet, while not "famous", is pretty well-known by people who are faucet afficionados (and they are out there) - it's one of the few "steampunk faucets" that come up in searches. It's pinned on pinterest, plus here on houzz pretty frequently. I've even seen it mentioned somewhere on the forums here at one time - and the price tag is usually included in the mention in all those places. You know, because it's a $4,000 faucet and a thing of beauty. Not my taste, but I can appreciate it for what it is.

It seems like discussing the cost of the faucet would be a very natural conversation when taking to the person doing your counters- it's not like telling your neighbor.

I've played with Waterstone faucets in a showroom that were hooked up to the water so you could try them out using the sprayer and the levers. They worked great. There were some others, though, that looked great on the internet and printed material but were awful to actually use. I highly recommend finding a showroom that has the faucets hooked up to water.

Having needed new faucets in the past year, I knew how much and what that faucet was from the photo. Not my style but I think it's beautiful. Why would a 4,000 faucet be so controversial but outrageously expensive appliances are not? To each their own.

Well, an appliance has a lot to do...a faucet is really just a pipe that moves water from one place to the other. If I had that much extra money, 3500 would go to a charity and not on a pipe. But that's just me.

I am happy for people who could own a faucet like that, pretty cool stuff. $4,000 could get a full length female mink coat. It would be worth more than a cool pipe. We all have different tastes in life. :-)

Or supply food to a homeless shelter for months.

Oh good grief. One could say the same about purchases of particular cars, certain appliances (Miele, etc), fancy stone countertops, or really anything. One person’s frivolous luxury is another’s creature comfort is another’s must-have-for-sure. He’s got the money, he wanted to spend it on a nice faucet. Perhaps he already donates a good deal to charity. Or perhaps he saved and scrimped and worked three jobs to fix up his kitchen to get that faucet. We don’t know his story and who are we to say how he spends his money.

I don't begrudge anyone for how they spend their own money. The poster above me said she'd get a mink coat instead of a faucet. I posted what I'd do if I found myself with an extra $4K. Good grief indeed!

Interesting post. My question would be why is it $4k? It’s readily available in a wide variety of finishes, so it’s not rare, nor are the finishes gold. It’s not handmade. It’s artistic but it’s not unique art (meaning it’s not one-of-kind as you could order dozens of them if so inclined). Does it boil water before the water comes out? Is there some technology advancement? Why is it $4k?

Is it justifiably expensive or is it just overpriced? Does a person get one just so everyone can spread the word that they own the $4k faucet? Is this supposed to be some kind of status symbol? Haha

Two people made a comment about how they would spend the money on charity- It was not just you Penny. Had it been just you I would have bitten my tongue so-to-speak because I know you are sensitive and I would not want to offend. Honestly, I have no idea of where you could interpret my rebuking your charitable spending. I have no idea of what you give and it's none of my business. To say nothing of the fact that much charity cannot be measured in dollars and cents alone. From what I have seen of you here, I have no doubt you are someone who could be counted on to help wherever it was possible for you.

And in all seriousness, what we as westerners spend in our daily lives could easily be curtailed and help others, some living close to us no less. There are economies to be made in most budgets.

I was there to template his home. He was a wonderfully funny man. He pulled the faucet out of the box and i stared at its beauty.

He then said "when i started this house, I did not think I would be that person who was going to splurge on ridiculous items. But here I am with this $4,000 faucet."

I would never judge a person based on their spending. We both had a good laugh at it and then continued onto our work. His faucet was unique thats why i shared it. No where near the most expensive one we have installed, only the coolest.
