Regarding the curtains: They will give you a finished look and help warm up the space as just adding molding won't do it. If you want to get a feel for the curtains without putting holes in the walls with the hardware, then buy some blue tape that will help hold them up, then you can stand back and decide if you'd want curtains or not. Adding crown molding is also a good idea.

I think a new lamp to replace the one you are showing in your first picture near the couch.

Here are the horizontal cabana striped drapery panels. It's not what I would select because I think your room would look visually taller if you selected drapery panels that did not have horizontal stripes. Here are some options.

Can you try the suggestion with the blue tape using the curtains that you've purchased? So, we can see how they look. Also....JC Penney has good prices on grommet curtains this weekend.

Regarding the ceiling fan: If you are going to keep a ceiling fan, I'd remove that one and purchase one that is more transitional. There's some slicker looking ones out there.

Definitely YES to curtains. Right now you've got hard, flat surfaces (walls and blinds). Curtains add a nice softness to the room even if you don't need them for function. Also YES to a large pot and plant. If blue is your accent color, then perhaps a pot in that color. I'd also add larger art above the sofa, but that's just my preference. See BeveryFLADeziner's post further up.. I think those colors are beautiful. And I love the large scaled art.

IMO - The height that BeverlyFLADeziner is showing is the perfect height for this space.

You guys are awesome! Beverly thank you for the visual I agree with you. I like the solid better I think. I’ll try to hang the ones I have with tape later so I can see IRL how it flows. I was kind of thinking I️t was going to look more farmhouse than I had intended. I like the stripe but not sure I️t goes with the theme. Definitely looking into a large art piece. I put some abstract art examples above would something like that look weird in here. I’m not a huge fan of florals. The ceiling fan is one of those hard sells to the hubs. Read: (hun this isn’t a showroom I like the ceiling fan.). Lol it’s the same thing with the tv. I was like every pro says we need to put I️t on the other wall. And he said that when he cooks and does the dishes he likes to watch I️t and I like him cooking and doing the dishes so I️t stays hehe.

Also I have a navy accent wall in the foyer but I think navy curtains would be too dark but would those light blue curtains clash?

I like the sunburst mirror, however, I do like what BeverlyFLADeziner posted a bit more because the mirror is in the same color family as your console and the color is broken up by your lovely lamps and the middle piece that she added.

I’m still torn. I like the solid blue curtain from beverlyfladeziner’s mock up. I don’t really like polyester for the type. Those look shiny is that intentional or was it just an example? I think I may want to try a cloth in that color. But sometimes that color doesn’t sit well with me. I think the light blues alway scream baby boy to me:/ I’m more drawn to navy and my accent wall is navy. However, navy may be too “heavy” for the curtain color. Thoughts? When I think of my decor Color scheme I always imagine this ....don’t laugh lol.! But I love this look. I love navy beige grey and cognac. So while everyone is going bananas over all white kitchens I’m like.

My cabinets and flooring are my cognac colored shoes. And everything else should be grey navy or beige. The green works too (see his boutinerre). Haha I know you’re like this lady is crazy but this is what i think.

Those throw pillows came with the sectional. The pattern has a lighter blue but the ones that show green in my first pic up close are actually a very tightly woven Forrest green and navy....

I can understand the navy being too dark for the windows, and the light blue not being what you want(she did say it was only a mock-up, not that you have to use this color). Can you pick one of the colors out of your curtain that you'd be happy with?

I like what you are saying about the men's suit. I've seen comments where folks say to dress your home with the colors that you'd use when picking out an outfit.

Since you don't like polyester, then look for linen curtains or the material that you've purchased.

What about putting the 3 photos that you had over your sofa in your original posting - over your console table - vertically?

I like the curtains your husband is holding, but two panels and make sure they start at the edge of the window so it looks bigger. Like the sunburst mirror, make sure you can see yourself, don’t hang too high.i don’t like the vases at the fireplace.

I wasn't sure at first, but the starburst mirror is really growing on me. I think it gives the room a fresher vibe than a square mirror. If you like it, go with it. I think it goes very well with the two lamps.

I’m thinking I may want a floral damask type curtain. Or something with a pattern. Not sure, I just am not sure I’m digging the stripes or plain curtains. I haven’t had a chance to run to local home stores to look for a new lamp yet either @shirlpp. Recommendations? Also I think eventually I will want an accent cabinet her or a more detailed table. Maybe some larger lamps?

I like your starburst mirror . It adds a little more interest . If you are painting I would rehang the pics. Above your sofa a bit lower ,maybe in a straight line.

The accessories between lamps need color. It just disappears. Love The striped curtains. Fun lamp is essential. Pillows with some color and a throw.

rtylor 29 , since your room is open to the kitchen, I would paint the walls a darker version of your kitchen green .That would make your neutrals in the room pop more . You could then use some navy accents ,ie. Sofa pillows , new chair ... For your pillow and/or chair fabrics don’t be afraid to go with a print that would incorporate gray,cream, white, navy and green , in a smaller scale than your curtain print . This would tie in your foyer ,new curtains , sofa, kitchen as a whole cohesive look .— Your husband looks like a gem !

To clarify, I do think ,it would be fine to leave your walls as they are and just bring in your color with the accents . I just meant that if you are painting the living room , I think it should be some version of your kitchen green .

The TV is too high. Art would look better there. The art that you do have is small and hung too high. A chair or two would definitely create a more conversation-friendly space. Beef up the lamps.

I’d have to there is no separation. I am very neutral though so the color scares me. Im much more comfortable with the accent pieces. I feel like I get tired of the color too quickly.

I can appreciate that thought . Just go with neutral walls and use your color in accents . I think neutral walls make for a very serene environment .I think the key is just adding touches of color and pattern here and there so things don’t all blend together .I mistakenly thought you were WANTING to paint a color ( other than neutral ) , so l thought the gray green would read as a neutral while still deviating slightly. You should always do what feels best to you !! Have fun completing your room . Post a picture of the end result.
