Worlds biggest Bee....

What is this? I've never seen a bee like it. Its bigger then a bumblebee. Never seen an all blonde bee this size. That's a 3" 35mm camera cap. He didn't look healthy and had its abdomen tucked in a bit. Otherwise,its a good 2+" long.

    Check out the male valley carpenter bee, Xylocopa varipuncta. And before anyone becomes impressed, I just Googled "giant blonde bee" and that came up! The size is impressive enough to have stimulated a number of online discussions :-))
