Are bulbs supposed to be this small?

I have a few Red Alert asiatics that I uprooted. I remember that when I initially planted them some years ago the bulbs were about the size of baseballs. The ones i uprooted had these little bulbs, the size of grapes and a root mass. The ground was very soft so I feel confident I didn’t chop anything. Is this how they’re supposed to look?
