Actinovate is intended for use as a water soluble spray, leaf coating and can be quite effective when used in that manner.

I have never read anything that indicates it is effective or even safe to use as a systemic fungicide (incorporated in the soil). I'm not sure I would want it the step bacteria in my fruit without more info. Could you link to the info that supports its use in that manner?

Maybe it's not systemic per se, but intended to prevent fungus in the soil? Too bad because I was hoping that I would be able to use it in the soil and save myself from having to spray repeatedly all summer. Boo.

In any case, since I had the funk last season, and am planning to reuse all my EB soil this year, should I use it in the soil anyway? As well as foliar-ly? I got all the way to August last year without having to spray anything.

Ok maybe I misunderstood your initial post about "mixing it in with the soil". All the references you link (except one comment about dusting) are talking about mixing it as a liquid in water and then applying it to the root ball before planting or watering the plants with it before planting, or spraying it on the lawn. Same for the label directions link.

That is very different - it's a 1x limited application - than mixing it in with the soil where it would be constantly available for uptake by the plants every time you watered. My point is that strep is one of the bacteria that can cross filtering membranes if present in high doses.

Dipping, lightly dusting, spraying the plant, or limited watering with it as recommended in the links isn't the same thing as mixing the dry powder into the soil in an unknown amount.

I prefer to follow label directions but it is your choice.
