I think in this example it's much too tight. A person at the range and one at the sink would be knocking elbows potentially and the oven door and the dishwasher door both open into limited floorspace.

Honestly, that looks very squished. You didn't ask, but I would try to carve off a foot of the great room and add it to the kitchen and try to get rid of those angles. You could then get a larger opening into the kitchen and make accessing the dining room easier.

No angles! If that is your house plan you posted above, I would suggest removing the wall between the kitchen & the family room. Move the range to the back wall (by the stairs). Add a rectangle island with open space on the living room side & the kitchen sink on the other side of the island. Check my "Projects" for several examples of this open kitchen. It allows for much better flow throughout your space! It's a great plan & good luck with the project!

HUGE waste of space. Angles are the default way of a home designer to “add interest” . That gets an automatic F in architect school.

That kitchen follows suit and is a big fat F.

You don't have room as drawn. If you put the range on the straight wall and put a bank of drawers between the sink and dishwasher, it might work. Keep in mind that the sink in a corner like that is a one-person sink. There's no way for a kid to squeeze in and wash an apple while dad is cleaning some shrimp.

I do like the flow generated by the angle up top but the one at the bottom (where you currently have the range) really does seem superfluous and a waste of space unless you have some mechanicals in that black triangle. I'd do a normal corner there

Remember to redo any drawing with all the doors open, like Palimpsest did with the dishwasher door.
