I'm in LA and that was pretty close to the quote I got from my contractor 4 years ago. For my area that does not seem high.

I ended up paying quite a bit more when I fell in love with an unusual door style custom made by a local cabinet maker. He would not sell the doors to my contractor and wanted to make the whole vanity, so I paid a premium for that. But this was for my master bath and I was willing to spend more in there.

Seems like a reasonable price to me. My children's vanities were a bit more, about 3k. I am in the Bay Area as well.

WoodPro's vanity styles look pretty basic. I'd check out Conestoga ready-to-assemble cabinets from the Cabinet Joint. They make doors and drawers for the high-end cabinet companies. They're highly-regarded on Gardenweb and are based in NC.

Seems high to me, but I'm a tightwad from the Midwest. I paid $1050 for this 72" one piece cherry inset vanity with soft close drawers. I used a local family owned business rather than the big names. I was quoted over double with name brand options (they weren't one piece or inset either).

Keep searching. You may find that your original quote is average or you may find a better deal. I'd like to think there are better options out there, but it does take work and time.

Seems to be a fair value

I know my comment is going to elicit some "cheap chinese crapola" comments. But I'm a realist and I would not spend $2600 for a 48" vanity cabinet from a local fabricator (particularly since I needed 2 and then needed to add the tops). Total would have been about $7k. I could afford, it just didn't seem a wise use of money.

I did a lot of online window shopping, read lots of reviews, learned that companies brand the same vanity under many names (and a huge spread in price points) and ultimately picked one that is solid wood and had many, many positive reviews under every brand name it was sold under. I selected the vendor with good delivery reviews as well as price. I was VERY nervous buying this without seeing it but I am so happy. It arrived in perfect condition, is well built and between the sale and a 10% coupon, I paid $760 a piece with a top and sink. Every contractor who has been here is amazed at the quality and price.

What did I compromise? I wanted a quartz top. I got a marble top. I wanted top quality drawer boxes. I got dovetailed with lower sides than I'd like. I wanted a Kohler Archer sink. I got a regular rectangular vitreous china sink. Trade offs were well worth it to me in order to have $5500 to put into other elements in the bathroom.

Here is the vanity I got. It comes in black, white, grey and cherry. Good luck in whatever you choose.

Ms815, what about Costco? Just search for vanity... for 1000 you get the vanity the sinks and quartz top and free delivery. If you don’t like it you can return:)

The price seems reasonable for custom, but you haven't explained why you need custom. As several others have pointed out, there are decent quality and less expensive options readily available if you are willing to look. And the price for many of them also includes a countertop and sink(s). Spending the kind of money you're talking about for a children's vanity is not in my vocabulary.

ms518, did you consider getting a custom vanity from an online vendor? we have been happy with cabinetry we got from cabinetjoint as well as barker cabinets. you have limited choices on colors and finishes, but if you are ok with that, or don't mind finishing the cabinets yourself, it is a good option, all made in the US too.

Did you ever consider just using a 48 inch "free standing" vanity instead of a wall to wall one? Much cheaper and it would just slide into place. An open bottom like the picture above would really work, it would look more like a piece of furniture sitting against the wall.
