Side panels for over the range micro?

Trying to figure out one of the walls in my tiny galley kitchen. Every inch counts. I have about 86.25" on that wall. Forgot about the side panels on each of the two cabinets where the micro will be. Do the cabinet side panels go from the top to bottom of the cabinet, or do they start from the bottom of the micro? If from the top, and if the IKEA panels are 3/4" thick, that's 1 1/2" gone I didn't account for. On that wall will be a 23.5" fridge with .5" clearance and 3/4" fridge panel, two 15" cabinets and a 30" range.

Of course you need cover panels for those cabinets. And any other cabinets with exposed sides. And for the base cabinets next to the range too. The math has to work top and bottom.

Thanks Sophie. But do the panels run top to bottom of the uppers or do they start from the bottom of the micro to cover what the micro doesn't? Doesn't the slide in range cover the edges of the base cabinets without using panels there?

The panels cover the entire cabinet sides. If you don’t mirror the panels with the base cabinets too, they will not line up with the uppers. That is critical for fire safety reasons.

Thanks! If I adjust where the micro sits to be flush with the end of the cabinet bottoms then I won't need the panels as the cabinet sides will be covered. That's the only way it would work in my space. Been looking at photos here and lots without panels.

No OTR will line up with the bottom of cabinets when using stock cabinets. They aren’t designed to. . And they are all different heights, so if this one does, the future one may not.

You’re working with IKEA. Not custom. If you want to take advantage of all of your space and use odd sizes, you need custom. Not IKEA.
