I had to look at that lamp, bossyvossy! It comes with a 1 watt bulb. I wonder if it gives enough light?

What’s on the other side of the closest walls? If there’s a room on the other side with an outlet on the shared wall, an electrician may be able to run a new box for your office from the existing box.

I’ve got sort of the same problem. My office desk (built-in) is against an outside corner. The outlet is on the wall to left as I’m sitting at the desk. DH drilled a hole in my desktop and we ran a power strip from the outlet to under the desk. The cords for the desk items (Mac, scanner, desk lamp) drop through the hole to plug into the power strip. It’s not elegant by any stretch of the imagination, but it’s functional.

We live in an older home and the rooms in the original construction have only 2 outlets per room. We run extension cord wire from the nearest outlet along the baseboard until we get to the lamp's location. You can use an regular packaged extension cord or make your own to get a more precise length for your needs.

I live in a 70 yr old house. It's still quite possible to add outlets to a room - I have done so. Extension cords are a recipe for disaster. If the house has few outlets, you may also need to add a new panel to the circuit breaker. You'll be glad you did all these things.

If you stick with LED bulbs you should not have to add a circuit , adding an outlet is not that expensive .
