I'd return it and buy a different one. Normally, when things blink, it's in setting mode or it's been through a power outage so I wouldn't trust my job with a clock you either can't understand or get to work properly. Look at reviews online before buying anything to make sure the unit is at least decent.

I personally just use my cell phone as an alarm clock. I can set multiple alarms if need be and they can play whatever sounds I want. I am particular not a morning person and could sleep through a hurricane and need an alarm that could probably wake the dead from across the city. Also, your phone gets it's time from your carrier so it should always be right on.

Does it have a battery backup? If so unplug it AND remove the battery for a couple minutes to give it a hard reboot. If that doesn't help it's probably got a wonky brain.
