Fireplace Mortar Frame

last modified: 8 years ago

Hi All,

The stone veneer is being installed on my fireplace and I am so excited! We purchased a mortar frame for the masons so that we could easily attach a door since we will be using a gas long set in the masonry fireplace. The masons have set the mortar frame flush with the front of the stone, but I thought it was supposed to be inset a bit so that the door was completely covered by the stone and you wouldn't see any gaps. Before they get any further, I want to make sure it is correct! Anyone know the answer? The google machine came up empty for me.
