Wood siding in forest?

Absolutely stunning! May I ask, what kind of wood and how in the world can you evade the woodpeckers?! We’re about to re-side our place; forested, Southeast MI. The peckers have had a great time with the old T1-11. We want a natural, blended look with nature but afraid we’d be living in Swiss cheese if we chose wood.

wood siding can be a problem with woodpeckers. I do think it is possible but can't be 100% sure. This home is clad in cedar with a Cabot clear solutions stain. I would also recommend at least a 3/8" airspace behind the siding to keep it dry and free from bugs that attract the woodpeckers.
