I have an open plan house where I will be having the kitchen, breakfast area, butler's pantry and pantry, drop zone area and laundry room in tile. and the living room dining room, corridors and the study in vinyl wood. I also have roman pillars with eyebrow arches for the dining room area. My friends have adviced me against dividing the plan into two floors, but I want my kitchen to be tiled for spills heavy or light or the dishwasher leaks, which is easier to clean with tile than vinyl wood.

Secondly. my friends have adviced me against dividing the room as it breaks the flow of the floor...I am wondering that if I should break the floor between tile and vinyl plank I could go with a color that complements each other or is the same as each other. Please help.
