last modified: 7 years ago

I am looking to change my entry/foyer look. Color I want changed. I also would like something different under my tv (65"inch). What I have now under tv is too small. I am looking into changing the wall to Valspar decorative paint, maybe the Venetian Plaster Pelle color , or the Brushed Suede. HELP!! ANY & ALL help is appreciated.

@Claire Larece-- yes I have that brochure with that in it. I'm thinking on doing all my walls one color.

    @Jamie H that’s what I was trying to clarify

Since your entryway is narrow I would suggest something more like this

Please add some more pictures. Stand where the hall comes into the room and take pictures showing the other three walls.

What do you have in mind for the flooring? The tile looks pretty neutral and in good shape from the pictures.

The paint color would be one of the last decisions I would make. You need to determine all the elements that will change, and get them all working together. You could do a "white and black" palette, but that would require a more contemporary styling and I think I see a rolled arm on a sofa peeking out from the family room in a beige color? So, I need more photos and what desires for style you have in order to go forward. Otherwise, at the end, nothing will work together.

My thoughts exactly Flo.... just what I was thinking. I was also thinking about the furniture since the chairs will be too close to a match of her color choice but she also do blue

    Oh I like that

Thanks everyone, I will try and upload more pictures of the living room. Yes it is narrow and hard to work with. I am def keeping everything in mind.

Will you be keeping the recliners you need something more sleek and slender looking if you want a recliner. I also think the chairs should be facing each other....is there another place you can fit the side chair.

The couch/love seat my mom gave to me, not that long ago. So as of right now, I will keep the couch. No I don't have any other place. My house is small.

Does the couch fit on the wall where the loveseat is now?

    Beat me to it tqtqtbw

Yes it does. I did move it there once before. We sit on the love seat all the time because it reclines & faces the TV.

I think painting the foyer and the family room the same color will make the rooms look larger. Will that brushed suede color match your sofa and loveseat? If so, you will need to add some color with a rug, pillows, pictures, and drapes. While getting a larger console for the tv, purchase a larger chest or coffee table for the sofa.

Thanks so much vjs12. Yes I am def getting a new rug. I know I have to purge- I have stuff just not the space.

I'm examining your current furniture layout. Wondering? could you move the tv and console to the wall where the loveseat is? Put the loveseat facing the tv. It would be to the left of the couch, making an L shape with the round table in between. The tv and console seems like it is separated from the family room the way it is arranged now that is why I'm suggesting the above layout? What do you think?

No. that wall is the only way the TV runs - wires, plug in etc... I dont have much space.

I wish I could just move... lol !!

Quite a challenge. Small room and big furniture. I agree with the idea to paint the hall the same color as the family room. Is the kitchen a different color, also?

Ideally, I'd like a lighter shade for the whole space and to have the fireplace dry-brushed with white to take away some of the pink tone.

I think I will paint it all one color.. I need something new and fresh. Yes kitchen is a very light green. I think I will paint that too the same color. Yes the fireplace can be changed. I have a lot of work to do in this house.

Well painting all the walls the suede color, adding larger console and coffee table/chest, and rearranging accessories will make the rooms look amazing.( After all you did just want to know about the paint and console). Cozy is nice. No need to move...lol!

Are the kitchen cabinets white? (Crossing my fingers.) Is the bar wall in the family room the same as the loveseat wall or a shade of muted green?

lol--- take a good guess? This house EVERYTHING has to be re-done. I want to paint the cabinets (but I don't know how)

    The cabinets are oak. lol

I rearrange a lot. I don't have room for anything. When I move the big sofa over, I don't have room for the chair etc...... Its a rotation. Maybe i can move the big chair to my room. First I want to paint then I think everything else will come into play. Thanks everyone for all your help!

Is the suede paint the one that has a texture feel? A relative used that in her house. It is nice. Don't paint your kitchen with that. Look at Sherwin Williams Believable Buff and see how that looks with the suede for the kitchen.

You are on the right track. Just changing the paint color makes a huge difference. BTW I loved visiting New Orleans last year.

oh good. I will go look at it. The brushed suede does have texture... I like the Brushed Pearl look to which isn't a texture, it's just the "look"

vjs12- so happy you came here and enjoyed yourself.

@Jamie H, what is the dimensions of your sofa and living room

I am not exact on the sofa, I know once before I walked from love seat to TV and its about 16-20 feet ( I believe)

Be careful with shiny paint in this space. You want the walls to recede and make the room feel more spacious. I can imagine using the pearl in a powder room or in a tray ceiling for a dining room. (The pros may be able to explain the idea better than I can.)

    Jamie Villemarette thanked tqtqtbw

Brushed Pearl is also a textured paint

Look at SW Nomadic Desert paint also -- on sample boards, to compare to the tile and the fireplace.

Here are a couple of examples of combining grays and beiges. Use the wall color and rug to bring everything together. With plain walls and solid color sofa and love seat you would do well to get a rug with both main colors.

I suck at picking out colors.. I tried to pick out gray for my bedroom and it is too dark and almost on the blue side. I love the gray look. Thanks this def helps.
