Pic? How large are they and how many?

You need to block it on the outside, before the sun hits the glass and heats it up.

Can you plant anything outside to shade it? A pergola above?

I loathe awnings over windows, but since you can't see out (nor underneath the cobweb-y, buggy awning, this would be an okay location to use them.

I've got two large corner ones in the bathroom and that room is very hot during summer months. I hate them. Thinking of having them replaced. Cant see that they're very energy efficient.

And the only covering I can think of are roll down cellular shades if not near your shower.
