You have a very busy granite countertop, so I would recommend a simple backsplash such as pure white subway tiles.

Always let the granite be the star. Simple subway tile is your best choice, if you must have something more "interesting" use glass subway tile in a very subdued color.

I wouldn't go with white ceramic subway tiles with that granite, but you definitely want something simple without pattern, to let your countertops shine. If you want a really dramatic look, pull the dark charcoal color from your granite to use in glass tile in a longer, skinnier proportion than traditional 3x6 subway tile. If you want a brighter colored backsplash, a tan/sand color pulled from your granite could balance nicely. Love your cabinets and light fixtures, too. Please post pictures when you're done!

I agree about pulling a light shade from the counter. This is your counter - I don't like the little accent tiles but I do like the subway tile laid in a vertical pattern for something different.

I like the idea of subway tile - white or the tan color in the Bellingham.

I couldn't find an example of Bellingham with the tan backsplash, but I'm thinking a color similar to this sink that was used with Bellingham. I like this sink too - I have a Silgranite sink (different color) and I love it!

Glass subway or back painted glass back splash would be amazing. Vertical with the lines of the cabinetry might be a lot of vertical.

Or light and honed subway tiles. There is a lot of shine already.

Awesome!! These comments have really helped me so so much! So what I'm gathering it something with no pattern, not much shine, and simple color and possibly a vertical layout.
Do you guys think a diamond shape is to much? I've found this beautiful tumbled marble called dolomite white. It does have some movement with grey throughout it, would it be a mistake even with that little of movement? I've attached a picture of it. Would something simpler be even better yet? (as in the just the glass subway tiles?)
I also put a picture up of the progress, where it says 'stove' - it will be a corner stove, stainless steel, with a stainless steel hood above it, tile will go clear to the ceiling on this wall, and then only be used on the adjacent wall, where the sink will be and then end where the beams is vertical. I really really appreciate all this help!

I personally wouldn't do diamond shape. I like that dolomite white and think it could work well as long as (in person) the undertones of the dolomite white and the granite are the same.

I really like what you've picked so far for cabinetry, countertops, flooring, etc. I agree with the above comment about choosing something simple, like subway tile. I think our bronzite subway tile would really work well with the design you've chosen. It's simple, but provides a nice pop.
