I voted for the second one as well! When my sister was married several years ago and lived out in the country, the turn around was like what you indicated in the first drawing. I did not like it! Her house now has the turn around more like your second drawing, which ends up being in front of her house and it's so much better! It's puts me much closer to the door. Anyone with health problems and/or older people will like the second option as well.

#2 is better for setting up sports courts too!

I vote for a hybrid of the 2. Have the turnaround on the left, with the driveway wider between the side of the garage and the front of the house. Having the turnaround beside the garage will give you a lot of solid surface close to the front entry, lowering the curb appeal.

Thank you for all the input. The reason I dislike having the turnaround in front of the garage is because I personally think it will look bad from the road. I would rather take everything from between the house and the sidewalk and turn it into a nice garden.

Is the land in front of the right side turnaround unsuitable for a garden?

i also like choice #3 provided by kootenay. your #1 exactly as drawn would make it difficult for guests parked in the turn around to back out toward the garage. and i really get not wanting to have a lot of paving up close to the house.

Another vote for #3. I agree with less paving close to the house.
