I wouldn't. It is something you don't see in every home. It's craftsmanship and it is beautiful.

Paint the walls white or a nearly white blue or green. Put in a white countertop and some white rugs. Something really fluffy in the seating area.

I also agree with painting the cabinets and walls white, then wait and see about the ceiling. It is a pretty ceiling!

I recommend painting the walls white as you said and also painting the cabinets white. This will give nice separation between the wood floors and ceilings which have a higher end feel than the cabinets.

noooo! leave the ceiling. once you have everything else white, it will look fantastic. do everything else first.

I also agree with not painting that beautiful ceiling! It takes time, effort, and money to create a ceiling like that. Once everything else is painted white, you will want some natural looking wood to warm up the space.

I have the same ceiling and sometimes I think about painting it....then I think of the craftsmanship that went into it and I change my mind.

Please don't paint that lovely ceiling! Like the idea of pairing it with leaf greens.

Please do not paint the ceiling, or the wainscotting, or the cabinets. All the wood matches and adds so much character to the rustic cottage. It is unique as is. Painting the walls white and adding a white countertop and backsplash will brighten it up.

Leave ceiling wood because once the walls are white it will be beautiful ! Otherwise it will then be too much white.

Wood and white paint can work beautifully together, however this particular ceiling does look plain and old fashioned to me.

How about keeping the white walls and adding some depth to the ceiling, by transforming it's look and adding the character in to this space?
