Love the look you have in the rooms/areas I can see, including the beadboard walls.

Is there hardwood flooring under the carpet? It appears the rooms adjoining the hall have hardwood floors. I think wood flooring would maintain the style, and you could find several matching long hallway type rugs, with non-slip backing or non-slip inserts behind them to keep them in place. Personally I don't think carpeting that area goes with the overall look, but without seeing the other rooms it's hard to tell.

Thanks, I fear you are right about carpeting not going with the look. Yes, they are beadboard walls and a beadboard ceiling. The floor is a hardwood floor beneath (I think!). It is painted brown and I would love not to have to refinish the floor. The cottage is in Maine so warmth on the floor is important. I would like to jazz up the area.

What about some carpet tiles? These are very cool and come in so many textures and colors. They clean up great and you can do them yourself.

I thought about using Flor...is there another company? But, wondered if they would create enough warmth or look too industrial. Love the images you sent. Many thanks

I think if done right they are really nice. The images here are floating so that changes the way they look. But if you painted the edges of the wood floor a soft country color then ran these like a runner I think the effect would be very pretty. I think there are other companies. The big box stores carry them now too. Just checked Lowes out and they have a good variety.
