I’m sorry! That is frustrating! If it makes you feel better, I bought a Seville from them over two years ago that sounds like your NZL and it is now a gorgeous, lush tree. They do grow quickly!

Hope you are right! I have been purchasing trees from Four Winds over the past 30 years and it seems that their quality of service has been slipping from the products they sell to the customer service. I am in the market for 2 more trees and I am done with purchasing citrus due to lack of space. I am not sure if I want to do business with them in the future. Customer service is not friendly whenever you call about your order.

I agree with you Denise and Steve. Denise, the trees I have bought from Harris in the past have ALL done well even though some did not look as good out of the box as the nicest trees from FW. However, I’ve gotten some read duds from FW that I’ve never gotten from Harris.

My NZL was my first entry level purchase which makes me hesitant to buy another that size. Harris trees are nice but there are few varieties to choose from in the dwarf size. If they had more choices, I would drop shopping at Four Winds completely. $35 for shipping one premium tree is crazy, but I do it because they are not standards.

Laura, the canopy of Harris' trees far outshine Four Winds because the canopy is huuge and can barely fit in the box. I live on the East Coast and ordering from Harris would save some money.

Through the years I bought an entry level owari satsuma (killed it 2 years later)from them and it was OK, I recently bought a premium Kukushu kumquat from them and was quite pleased. I initially purchased small citrus to learn from a variety of sellers, Woodlanders, One Green World, etc. (never Harris) but while pricey both Four Winds trees were noticeably better. the high graft on Harris is a turn off for me which adds another problem to in/out growers, another tall thing. At this point, less is more, and I really only want 4 to 5 trees tops of stuff ready or almost ready to bear without it affecting the trees health, I'm stuck growing a Citrangequat to broomstick size (looks like another overwinter) before I attempt to plant it out with protection so this thing could be 8 foot tall before I get it outside. In any event I would purchase a premium only from Four winds again, if I was looking......BTW just ordered a Meyer and Owari from Costco (anybodys guess but the picture looked good) but they are 5 gallon, 2 at $108...., hope their not too tall

Bklyn citrus, it is funny you should mention high grafts on Harris trees. Are you sure? I called them to inquire where the graft is located on their trees and was told by the elderly gentleman it was within 6" from the soil line. I think I found them on my 2 Shiranui about 4" above the soil line, but the graft healed so well it is barely noticeable. There are so many bumps where growth has been removed at the nursery while growing that I am not absolutely confident where the graft truly is.

OK, maybe high grafts AND high stalk to start of canopy. they look tallish

bklyn citrus, I am not saying you are wrong. Every tree I have seen from Harris has a bend at the top. For all I know the employee whom I spoke to is wrong. The bend could be the graft. I cannot see a definite graft like those from other nurseries such as Four Winds and Saxon and Becnel.

bklyn, post a pic of your Costco citrus when they arrive. I'm curious!
