For an entry door, you need to have a 36" door opening (minimum per residential building code), which would be measured from one door edge to the pivot. It does not appear that a pivot door will work in your situation unless you reframe the opening wider.

Thanks for the reply. As a clarification, the door opening is 38", not the door frame. However based on your information about a minimum 36" door opening, I assume the pivot door would still not work in our case. Thanks!
