I agree with moving the mirror and replacing with one or more of the pieces that are on the other wall. They are hung too high for that wall. Keep above the bed simple as the open lattice of the headboard is meant to be a detail to show. Also, you have some type of box/storage below each nightstand. Perhaps to hold magazines/books etc. but the unique line of the bed stands is also meant to show as a silhouette fashion.
You could perhaps fill out the side drapes some. The bed is strong in the room and the side drapes add nice counteracting verticals but they are thinner lines (1 foot width for each dark drape I am guessing), so perhaps if you could fill that line out a bit to make them more of a statement. The ceiling fan does not bother me.

Maybe add one pllow to the bed that has the lamp color repetition.

I agree about changing the fan....I used to feel the same way but know they make really nice looking fans that add to the room. The mirror is too large and I agree that 3 pictures would look nice...using the same theme and hang them the same height from the bed but they can be different sizes...

Maybe lower the three artwork at chair wall. About 12" lower.

Just for a visual I think this photo shows how a more modern ceiling fan will disappear in the room (if that's what you want it to do - I think something like that minka artemis fan above is cool enough to do a contrast against the ceiling)

Remove the mirror over the bed. It is fighting with the elaborate headboard. The bedside tables are too undersized for the spaces they occupy so maybe you would want to consider 2 chests or 2 regency tables. I like the 2 chairs opposite the bed but they look like they are standing at attention. Rethink the fabric covering them and then angle them just a bit to soften the look. I also think the entire room would be jaw droppingly gorgeous (it already is now just more so) with a patterned wallpaper all over. Not too graphic but a big print in a muted presence with a little sheen.

The room is lovely, you did a great job! The mirror does look a little too overwhelming over the bed, and certainly draws your eye there.

We would also have to say the fan does not match the rest of the space. Everything looks so clean, fresh and updated, and the fan just looks so simple and boring. Why not consider a two-tone fan maybe with a nickel finish with darker blades to match your furniture. Just because the ceiling fan would be dark, doesn't necessarily mean you would want to draw attention to it. After all, if you update your fan-- chances are you would want to draw attention (if its ornately detailed) for example.

Do you really USE those side chairs on each side of the mirrored dresser? I would move them to another room for more open space. I also think the mirror should go over the mirrored dresser with no chairs on side. I would not put those framed pieces over the bed. I would put a larger horizontal piece of artwork that would have some splash of color! Maybe with orange in it. I loved the suggestions posted here for more colorful pillows with orange in them.... and the light turquoise. Think about painting the wall with the bed frame a very light turquoise. No, I don't really use those chairs on the side of the dresser. I removed the mirror but the wall looks very empty now. What should I put above the headboard? The back wall is painted with bay sands by valspar. I don't care so much for the color since it kind of greenish and colder looking. The lamp bases are orange colored wood. Once I removed the mirror, my black lamp shades are grabbing the attention now.

Switch the three art pieces to the entry wall of the room. Place large mirror above chest. Love that mirror!

Without speding almost any money and just for the fun of it I would suggest you try this:
1- put the 3 pictures you already have above the bed.
2- Put the mirror over the dresses between the windows and the picture that is there put over the other dresser.
3- Add a marble or granite top on your nightstants a little bit bigger than their current ones.
4- Put two throw pillows in warm shades (that compliment your lamps) on your chairs.
Truth to be told I think you have a beautiful bedroom and except from the mirror on the top of your bed my eyes were very pleased when I first saw your pictures.

You dont need much because your room is beautiful! Just need to re-use your accessories, like putting the mirror over the dresser and putting something smaller like the picture frames over the bed. Change the ceiling fan and you're done :D gorgeous room by the way

If I were in that bed I wouldn't be able to reach the table. Consider moving both night stands closer to the bed. I also prefer a bed lamp centered on the table. Tuck the duvet inside the foot-board (or pull it up so that the whole foot-board shows). What is the reason for having the rug asymmetrical with the symmetry of the bed, night stands, & lamps?

I agree with the others that the mirror looks cramped, the 3 framed pieces are hung too high, the curtain panels need to be fuller, and the chairs seem contrived. Bolsters in the chairs would look nice (but the chairs would still seem contrived in that location. Will they work on either side of the bathroom door? Or 1 at the bathroom door & the other opposite it at the window & next the the dressing room. This would be so much easier if I were standing in your room!). Consider swapping the mirror with the canvas over the lingerie chest between the windows.

These are the small things that make a big difference. Minka ceiling fans are awesome, btw!

IF you move the chairs, lower the 2 prints to fit within the size of the chest (not sure if that makes sense) and hang the center one above the 2 to create a pyramid arrangement. Or- can all 3 of them hang vertically? Not sure & unable to tell no matter how long I stare at the pic.

'pattie' just a comment about your curtain comment. 'ID' has pinch pleated drapes, they come that way.

I actually love the mirror but agree with earlier responses that it is too large for the area behind the headboard. Do you have another room in a living area or another space on a wall in the bedroom to place it? Lb interiors, my drapes are not pleated, I just hanged them that way to keep them close. I used hooks in the back of the drape to pinch them. My sheers are pleated. Anyways I do agree that the drapes look to skinny. The delema is that the corner window by the dressing room and the window by the bathroom is in the corner. I can hang all panels more fully but the dark drapes would cover the window in those two. This is so frustrating to have those corner windows. I tried to hang just plain white sheers but the look is not so elegant with dark furnishings.

I second Decoenthusiaste mirror /art suggestion and others that suggested adding some of the orange in lamps - my advice would be to not overdo it - a pillow, art with some orange or big framed rectangle landscape photo that you like in sepia , at most.
The color on the walls is beautiful. Why would you change it? Are you looking for a complete change, add color or just add some drama, to get more of that "cocoon" feeling?
If I may, do you have a certain reason why the rug under the bed doesn't go under both sides?

Oh, I just realized that you said about the paint that is a cold greenish one. If you like the warmer colors but light you could opt for a light grey with a yellow/brown undertone. If your wish is to make the bedroom feel more like a cocoon you could paint all walls in a darker color.

When I looked at this room--I thought-omg -gorgeous! The fan is so white you can barely notice the style, but ok one day maybe... The beautiful mirror caught my eye as the whole room did. I loved it all. How could it look better? It can't. It can only be changed.

The rug is not centered because if I put it under bed centered, the bed covers a lot of it. Second I like rug under my feet on the way to the bath. Third my husband does not want rug on his side. About the fan, it does looks very prominent in the photos. In the room it is not really the attention grabbing thing. I don't mind changing it once I find I like something, plus this one is the most perfect, quiet fan I ever had.

I tried the round mirror over the mirrored dresser. I'm not sure it goes well. The round mirror between the two windows would be beautiful but again it a little to big. If the mirror would just be smaller....then I would just keep it over the bed.

Keep the mirror there. There are no rules sometimes I D ---and this is one of them.

Would any of those fabrics work for recovering the seats or bed pillows. Do I remove some or mine and add more colorful pillows? What about the size?

Can you place the mirror over the low chest and ask us what we think? Bottom of mirror should be about 10" ?above the top of chest. Center of mirror between about 62"-68" above the floor.

I like the restful subtlety of the room. I thought one pillow with soft coral, I posted pics above. You need something to repeat the orange (lamps). I think not too much. This will keep the calming feeling.

If you want more energy, stronger and more contrast colors with more items contrasting, would be used. It would be livelier and not as restful. That's a decision for what 'feeling' you want.

I like the softeness of photo # 3 and # 5 . If you want to keep the room soothing.

Move the mirror behind the dressing table?
Change the fan to a more contrasting colour (dark brown, black, dark gold, bronze)
Maybe add some tall mirrors to either side of the bed?
Add a nice bit of wall art or clock above the bed?

Ignore the art I put in the design, doesn't have much variety or an option to move it higher on the wall.

I'm hearing so much about your ceiling fan. It disappears in the ceiling--and that's so perfect! Who wants a dark fan poking out of the ceiling? Especially when styles change so quickly. I've got a beautiful, huge dark fan in my bedroom and it takes my eyes away from my beautiful bed. ggrrrr As far as color, do you like taupes, grays or olives?.Your bedroom is so quiet and restful looking. I hope you keep it that way. When/if you go 'lamp looking' make sure that you bring a picture w/ you to help choose.. To me as I said--it needs nothing. If you are bored w/ the room, maybe throw a few silver-ish throw pillows on the bed and get ready for some drama. . :)

The room is beautiful, but I would change the ceiling fan to dark sleek wood, similar to your wood floor color. You can get beautiful ceiling fans at Home Depot or Lowes-just go on their web sites! Good luck.

this fan would be perfect, it has similar wood as your flooring and the green which is in the chairs.

Get rid of that green pillow and add more color into the reds to match your lamps. The space above your bed is not big enough for that mirror. Try swapping the mirror with the 3 pictures you have by the table with the vase.

Your room is very nice. To give it that "finished look", I would do several things: 1-get rid of the sheers; 2-hang fuller drapes on substantially sized rods; 3-get night stands that are wider and taller-they should be at least the height of the top of your mattress; 4-hang the mirror over the dresser and hang the three pictures as mentioned earlier on the entry wall to your bedroom. After you move the mirror, give yourself a few days before you decide the wall above your bed is too bare. Your bed is beautiful, and you're used to seeing something over it.

If you change your fan: Check out Craftmade's "Townsend" in polished nickel. It's a new finish for this fan. It's has a transitional look...not too contemporary nor traditional but in-between. It's also a good height for 8' ceilings at a drop of only 14". I think it has a 6" down rod to make the 14". I suggested the p. n. finish because your mirror(s) looks to be of a similar finish and it's also very pretty.

I like the 3rd fabric and the 4th fabric. They bring in the color of the lamps and the 34rd I think is very soft.

The reason for the sheers on the windows is the fact that I hanged my drapes close to the ceiling. If I remove the sheers, that empty space above window looks very ackward. I would love to hang my drapes fuller , but how to I do that when the windows in the corners of the room are right into the corner?

I would put in full drapery and during the day you can put in tie backs . I will attach a picture below.

I really like your bedroom and I wouldn't spend much more time and money on making it "perfect". I would only replace the mirror above the bed and add some color from the lamp base here and there.

I I love your room! I would take the mirror away from above the bed and replace it with a square more modern one. Also I would change the lampshades to a white or off white. Possibly start looking around antique stores for trinkets, paintings, or furniture you might like. Good luck!

I think you need some color. I would put a nice piece of art over the bed, and maybe a space of color on the bed.
