Just bought our place and a lot of the finishes look to be about as old as the house. He and I have some differences in design, but we’re both stumped on this light fixture. its a small condo, entry way leads to small kitchen to combo dining/living. Any suggestions?

This is the ugly thing we want to replace. My biggest fear is getting something too big/too small.
