I much prefer Option A. I find it more aesthetically pleasing and it sounds like it might ultimately be more functional space wise. Also, I highly recommend you do full deep drawers in lower cabinets wherever you can. Nice in any sized kitchen but especially so in one with limited space.

I’m not a big fan of glass faced cabinets unless used strictly for display items (like high cabinets). In your kitchen just one glass faced cabinet in corner seems like a bit of an afterthought to me; I would skip it.

if i had to pick one, i'd prefer B. do an inventory of your big stuff... how much wouldnt fit in the cabinet over the fridge?

you might consider A on the left, and doorless cabinets over the dw. mine are so easy to unload into, and guests have no problem finding a water glass.

As far as the glass doored cabinet goes, unless you’re going to be lighting the interior and displaying pretty things, skip it.

Gosh this is a tough choice. I love the look of A but I totally understand your worry of function. How do you use your space? For me it would be option A because I want good storage to hide stuff. And having a larger shelf would work for the way I use my kitchen.

And I like the corner glass cabinet. In my past kitchen, I had corner glass cabinets which were lighted inside and I loved them. Here is a photo. If you notice the cabinet on the left was smaller but it was just a tiny bit smaller to keep a bit of balance.

Whatever you do chose it is going to be beautiful. The tiny differences that we see on paper will really disappear with all the other features from floors, to counters to paint to backsplash... It will be great!

I am a big symmetry person, but if I have to choose one or the other, I’d choose function. I definitely prefer the look of A, and in general I prefer bigger cabinets. But make sure you know what you’re storing where. I’d rather keep like items in a single smaller cabinet, rather than a bunch of random stuff in a bigger cabinet. In other words, if glasses fit better in B in the smaller cabinet, and the other side works for appliances, I’d rather that than have glasses and appliances together. I like order and organization. As already mentioned, remember that these visual details are most noticeable on paper. Think about how you will use the space :)

And fwiw I think B looks fine because it’s symmetrical too :) if looks were only consideration I’d choose A but B does not look bad and wouldn’t bother me.

And I second the suggestion to add drawers to lowers wherever you can (assuming it makes sense for what you’re storing there.)

I would be willing to take a bigger step for option A. Wear your Fitbit or Apple Watch and reap the rewards of and extra step plus the hydration! It’s a win-win! :-)

An extra step is really a concern ??? I understand the importance of planning ahead and think it’s a good thing you are considering every detail for function , but I don’t think that is something you would notice AT ALL. I think Plan B looks odd . I vote for Plan A , hands down, especially with the added functionality factor you mentioned . Glass vs. solid corner cab . really depends on whether you need that cab. for storage or could afford to use it as a display area .Either would look nice - your personal preference and needs should answer that . Wishing you enjoyment with your new kitchen .

I have a version of your Option A. Not a problem. At all.

Here's mine:

One thing you'd lose with Option B is the flexibility of having one
large cabinet over 2. I have glasses where there would be a cabinet
side, which means I couldn't store as much. Granted, I don't have as
many uppers as you do but I would still make the same choice.

I have option A on the right of the sink and just a single cabinet on the left which opens option B - so I am no help:) The option A on the right is not a problem at all.

I do have the single corner cabinet with glass. Most of my every day dishes are in the cabinet and it works fine - the glass is leaded, so the contents are not totally clear. I like the "break" of something a little different in the row of cabinets.

Option C, two pairs of 18” cabinets on each side of the sink. This keeps your door sizes consistent but the doors open the way you want. Narrower shelves have less chance of bowing too.

Your fridge shows water dispenser. You're walking over there for your drink anyway, aren't you? What difference does it make which side the door opens in relation to the sink if you're getting water from the fridge?

Plan A...not for looks, but for function. The center stile is a huge PITA. Suggest you go for "all drawers" in the base cabinets.

Our fridge will not have a water dispenser. We have well water and get it straight from the sink.

I really think your best bet is to map out exactly where you want to store everything. That should make the choice clearer. What exactly will you put in the 36W cabinet? Will water glasses take up half of that?

Why can't option A open the way you like?
