benches on either side or something else?

This is a wall in a large room in the basement. When finished there will be an electric fireplace in the hole. Before starting renovations there were two long benches fixed to the wall on either side. Question should I put them back, or put something else on either side? Sending before and after photos.

    I love the benches, nice close spot to sit by the fire, very unique idea, built ins are happening too much. Make the space functional, why add clutter and let the fireplace shine.
