Sure....the local seller does NOT want you to compare prices by going on the internet and looking up other people's prices for Shaw Floorte Pro. Simple as that. They are tired of "looky Lou's" or "tire kickers" coming into their flooring store, getting all the info on the floor they like and then going on the internet and purchasing it for $0.10/sf less.

This is common. Happens more often than not. The seller can order from the factory a specific "box" presentation. The factory makes the box and ships it like that. Done and done.

Any thoughts on Floorte Pro? The other that We are looking at is Inhaus Sono, and Mannington Adura max apex.

is this practice also considered a "private label" thing? We've been looking at LVP and I've found some nice products by Global Gem Flooring that have great specs but I cannot find any reviews etc on them.

With a name like Global Gem and the lack of info I would be willing to bet that they are an importer, and probably Chinese, which has been known to have major issues in flooring quality.

Here's the stat sheet on a product I like from Global Gem. It's part of their going coastal collection. I think the stats look good...any thoughts?

The "5G" Superior Click system gives it away. This is a Valinge 5G click system. It is a one of two "name brand" click systems. The other is Uniclic by Unilin.

Everything looks good. It is a rigid core system with an attached underlayment/pad. I would say this is a brand name product that has been brought in by someone as a "private label" product.

The Valinge system is EXPENSIVE. The licensees have to pay as much as $0.15/linear foot (or board feet...your choice) to use the system. To renew their license it costs $40,000+ every 3 months (every quarter).

The "low ball" Cheapy McCheaps don't go for brand name click edges. And those test results are for Europe...using European definitions not USA requirements. Testing in Europe is STUPID EXPENSIVE.

There is a tremendous amount of "money" behind this product which usually indicates a decent product. If you like this product, go for it. I can't see any problems with it.

It's a beautiful product. It looks so much like the wood I want in color and texture. I'll add some pix. I like a few of their colors and they have a "Farmstead" collection that has wider planks with the same specs. Cost through local dealers for over 1k square feet is around $3.30 a square foot. Almost seems to good to be true...
1. LVP closest (Coastal Sand Dollar and Forest Accents Euro Oak Lucerne) wood second. My two favorite choices.
2. Coastal tag for Sand Dollar
3. Tag for next favorite Coastal product is Cockle
4. Cockle under kitchen jute rug. Looks really good.

Hi Chrissi - Glad I could help. Yes I was in the business for several years and have learned how to dig out information from these "nameless brand" products. I've learned that the edge systems tell a tale all by themselves. And when it comes to natural materials the finish on top is the place to look. Of course it helps that I investigated things like this every day for more than 6 years....repetition makes it easier to spot patterns.

The underlayment is also a place to find some more information. That attached underpad (IXPE) is very specific....but again you would need to have seen HUNDREDS of these descriptions to clue in that the "IXPE" is extremely specific.

I think you've found some nicely priced product that is of better-than-average quality. The size of your order (over 1000sf) is going to be the "pallet" price (yes...many local dealers will often offer a better price on large purchases that are a pallet or more of product).

Personally I like REALLY pale floors. The top two photos are my favourites. If you like the medium brown (3rd photos) then have fun. It is your house and your style. I wouldn't worry about the quality of what you've found.

I was just talking about this with my husband this afternoon...spooky;) We've gone back and forth about wood or LVP for months. We've also decided to redo our kitchen so I'm trying to coordinate countertops and cabinets and floors. I think I'm going to order a box of the Global Gem Hickory color in Cockle and try a large sample of it.

Hello Summar. We just recently redid a home we just purchased with coastal gem and their egmont key color and it looks wonderful. We haven't had them cleaned yet as we move in in a week, so they're pretty dusty and dirty in this pic, but I'll upload another one when we're settled if you like. We're very happy we went with this instead of wood look tile.

Hi. We undecided. We saw an LVP product by Revotec - looks like they were introduced to the market early 2018 - so not a lot of track record. We want a tile-loo LVP and the Revotec product has grout lines - we also like the color. The specs look good - 8mm thick, 20 mil wear layer, lifetime warranty for residential. Anyone with advice ab this? Or should we go w a well-known brand, like COREtec. We like the Revotec color more than the COREtec color but would not want to install an inferior product, just bc it looks better to us. Thanks!

Chrissi, Did you install the global gem Hickory Sand Dollar? If so, pretty please include some photos. I am about to order some myself!

Luv Seabrook i love the Sand Dollar color but we decided to go with a more traditional mid to dark tone. I did see a picture of it installed on Instagram. Here's a pic of it:)

We installed Global Gem LVP and love the result! Their customer service is excellent and very helpful! We chose their farmstead collection european oak in Stonehenge.

We've been living with the floors for several months now and are extremely happy. Only one minor scratch found after moving everything into the house and it's barely noticeable. Our 80lb dog runs and slides on it and leaves no marks behind and it feels softer on your feet. I'm really glad we went with LVP over the wood look tile.

This is thin. It has An incorporated pad (can be problematic). The wear layer is "delicate". The only good thing = 2G click edge.

I would expect a price of $1.99/sf. And that's bad.

You didn’t ask me but I installed a year ago and could not be happier with durability. We live in a beach community so lots of sand traffic. And we have a dog. And it hides dirt so well that I have to remind myself that I haven’t mopped in weeks. And no furniture scratches at all. At least none visible.

sciortino , how do you match stains.. i am thinking of gem hickory and have some stain samples. they gave me some ” green look” it is hard because it is cedar.. am i being unrealistic? thank you

Has anyone installed the Global Gem LVT from the heartland collection? I like the Eureka color. Would love any feedback about durability, etc. I've read so many articles about buckling, peaking, etc, and want to know thoughts on installing a vapor barrier, etc. We would be installing on concrete slab.

Chrissi - what did you go with and how is it holding up? Haven't compared the specs to the Coastal collection, but I looked at that collection first and like a lot of the colors.

We ended up using Hallmark Flooring LVP. Color is Baroness. Much darker brown w/red/blonde. We liked the durability of the Hallmark and the upside of the rough sawn marks made it difficult to tell if it scratched. (Only had one real scratch and that was our fault when moving furniture. A gentle dotted in permanent marker solved the problem). Here’s our downstairs in what we chose.

Schafera, did you get the Global Gem Heartland? My wife and i are stuck on the Oakley color in the Heartland collection. Of all the samples ive been looking at from other manufacturers, even Shaw and CoreTec, this looks and feels superior and most like real wood. Im glad ifound the positive reviews on here.
