Need help redecorating bedroom! New pics!

I thought I would repost this since the first time around the pictures weren’t very good . I would like to redecorate my master bedroom. I would love suggestions on bedding, accessories, window treatments, paint, and anything else ! Furniture and white wood blinds need to stay. I like neutral earthtones. Thanks!

    Hello Mary,

Just got somewhat caught up on your makeover process, congratulations! I noticed one of the issues you were debating over was bedding and other elements due to the lack of natural light, and it being rather dark. Depending on the final paint and bedding you choose, I highly suggest incorporating a oriental rug. Rugs can help bring life to a room, and in a darker space, with the right colors, can lighten up the area.

Julie and houzzers let me know what you think of the paint samples. The pictures do not really show the true colors but you can get an idea. I pulled out the new shams so you could see the paint with them. I know which one I am leaning towards but I want to see what you think. Plus I want to look at them for a few days in different light. So from left to right are toasty gray, chic gray, wheat bread and campfire ash.

Impossible to tell over Internet. What is your goal? Go gray? Go lighter? Your current wall color looks good. Maybe adding good lighting is better approach? The bedding goes beige so any new wall color has to be in concert with that.

Your wall color now has a lot of pink...won’t work with bedding...having the bedding really helps me help you on this....the bedding does have a neutral tan but the background is very cool not warm....so I say wheat bread or chic gray...

Ok what is your fav Mary? They all are nice

Hi Flo actually the current color is horrible! It is a taupe with really strong pink undertones you probably can't see it in the pics.

Julie I am leaning toward toasty gray right now. I was hoping you would have picked that one :) I know it looks like it has a green undertone in the picture but it doesn't seem to in person. I do like the wheat bread but it may be a little too dark.

I have them all here so I think they all can work in your room that is why I picked them:) your eye in the room with your lighting is going to give you the best color for you...I really don’t think their is a wrong choice...agree going light is best in your dark room so the Campfire Ash one above Toasty Gray would really lighten up the room..I think Toasty Gray will be same depth of color as Wheat bread..just goes at bit green...I think I would pick Campfire Ash over the Toasty Gray.

With blind shut and overhead lighting.

The campfire ash seemed really light. I have white woodwork and closet doors and when I held it up to them there was little contrast. The gray seemed to gray no beige in it. I do still like the wheat bread . Thanks for helping me with this. Decisions decisions:)

When you see the last image with the Campfire Ash it Is just a tad lighter than my Worldly Gray and remember my Worldly gray is a bit lighter than Wheat Bread...and the Worldly gray really works great with the bedding in my room.

what color white trim do you have? Forgot

My trim is ultra pure white. I wonder if I can get a color sample size of worldly gray in behrs . I know they color match but I don’t want to buy a gallon if the colors not right. I will have to find out.

Campfire Ash I see a tiny bit of green in my room which I don't see in the wordly gray.

I too like Wheat Bread, but think a lighter shade would be very fresh and crisp in your room. Might want to run by SW and get a sample of Egret White. Behr (HomeDepot) can color match to that, even though it won't be exact, they get color matches pretty close in my experience. I checked that out on my color devices and it is perfect lighter tone to the Wheat Bread. I think those are the tones you like.

btw, I just got the Mother's Day messages, Julie! They just popped up! Hope you had a delightful day. Mine was a great Weekend! Started with going to the Astros game where they lost to the Rangers! :( But it was fun activities all weekend! And my youngest son was born on May 15th so we were in celebration heaven! Thanks for all your wishes!

Have no idea if this helps?

but with ultra pure white all of these colors should give enough subtle contrast:)

Strange the campfire ash I got seems a lot lighter
  • 8 years ago
2nd one in pic. Does it look lighter to you?

Flo, I never realized you were in the Houston area until your Astros comment just now! Do you have clients in Central Houston or just the Missouri City area?

Once I'm moved into my new house, I want to find a designer to work with for a clear direction and overall plan.

Kim, that is so funny! Great time of year for giving birth. No too hot, kid has a good chance to get going before any flu season and in general just great to be able to get outside and enjoy having them in your life! 3 is a perfect time of life too. Enjoy!!

I tried to find the LRV for the Campfire Ash, but no luck, so I can't do a proper LRV comparison. It might be the LRV that is affecting the color appearance. The higher the LRV the more light the color reflects. The Egret White (SW) is LRV 70 (out of 100, 100 being the most Light Reflective). I don't have a sample in my paint deck of Campfire Ash, so I can't scan it and find out it's properties.

Mary....Campfire Ash is very light but when put directly next to Ultra Pure White the color pops in the images...best thing for you is to not hang it on your wall or next to the other colors..look at them one at a time only next to your bedding..hopefully that will help!:)

Wow, my Mother's birthday is May 30th! Used to be Memorial Day! We always had big family get together. Bless her, she is with the Angels and is an Angel!

Thanks Flo for your color research.

Julie I will take your suggestion and look at them separately. Hopefully that will help.

    Congrats Kim!

Still looking at paint colors . Any thoughts about SW accessible beige? I’m going to take a chance and get a sample in behrs. They have the formula so I think that would be better than a color scan. Julie if you are familiar with that color do you think it would go with the Sophia bedding ?

Because each company has different base whites most “matching” is not going to be identical. But you can try. If i recall, Hiwe whole house has Worldly Gray.

Does accessible beige have any strong undertones?

If you want beiges, use Accessible Beige. If you want some gray tone use Worldly Gray. However, if you want to lighten up your room you need a off white with beige undertones not yellow and SW Natural Choice is good light neutral.
Hi Julie:). It’s always nice to see the kiddos. :)) Do you think accessible beige goes with the Sophia or is too beige?

My client got the Sofia and it is more beige and cream to my eye.

Flo what color are your clients walls?
  • PRO

Yes Sofia has Beige but the background color is not ivory it is a cool tone not warm at all..that is why you can go both directions... Worldly gray is a bit cooler than accessible Beige...If you go warm on the walls your room will just be one note of Beige:( to matching ....I would keep the walls just a bit cooler so the room is not all beige and you can introduce a tiny bit of gray....I wouldnot do accessible Beige just to Beige:((

  • PRO

Looked up some new choices for you....maybe introduce just the slightest of blue/gray....green/gray

anyone of these colors would be beautiful...don’t get yourself hung up on exactly matching the bedding you want to compliment it!:)

    Accessible Beige LRV is 58

Yes I have tendency to get too matching. Thanks so much for pointing that out with the accessible beige. I appreciate your honesty :) I love that you pros help me think outside the box!

OK I see HIWE has looked up the values for you. My client went with SW Natural Choice. It has a LRV of 73 so it is much lighter than Worldly Gray or Accessible Beige. It is fresh and yet calming color and they love it.

Thanks Julie! Have a nice time :)
