Wood look tile. Or wood plank vinyl. It depends on the pet and what your issues with care might be. Wood is an IK choice as well as long as you keep nails trimmed and don’t have pet accidents.

Have a dog. We're currently installing wood look tile (he's doing the last room right now!). Love it. We will have rugs for color, walking comfort, and for the dog to lay on in certain rooms. You will see the dog's hair EVERY DAY, but that's where a robot vacuum comes in.

I just finished purchasing engineered wood flooring and what I have learned is:

Factory finishes tend to be more durable than onsite and for durability look for a finish with aluminum oxide. I purchased engineered flooring from Mirage which is a Canadian company. Aluminum Oxide finishes are supposed to be more durable than even the best on-site finishes.

Lighter finishes are more forgiving in terms of showing scratches and such. I am replacing a 30 year old light oak floor and I was NOT fastidious in terms of maintenance and it still look fine in those areas that received normal wear and tear unless one looked very closely. I am replacing because of a flood and water intrusion around windows.

Matte finishes are theoretically more forgiving for not showing scratches and are recommended for pets and children households. I went back and forth on this since matte floors have detractors in terms of showing footprints from bare feet.

There is nothing one can do for urine unless you wipe it up immediately.

Just found this great Vintage Distressed Oak Laminate from Floor & Decor. $2.49 psf. The embossed relief is great and the color can be used in a variety of environments. Hampstead Luxury Timberwoods. The image on the website doesn't even come close to resembling the actual laminate. Distressed, wire brushed, laminate in a very low sheen is a good possible solution with dogs.
