My Don Juan just came like that. I put a pic on the 2 don juan thread of Sara-Ann. I'm told it will do alright after it gets planted. It takes them a while to regrow leaves. Unless it's turning black it's probably ok. Take a picture of it, just in case you need to contact them later if you're really worried about it. The first defoliated ones I got from them are starting to perk up, and those were delivered on the 5th. They've been in pots, but are getting planted Sunday.

Bella rosa, my GG came from ARE last year, and if I recall correctly it was the least robust of the eight roses in the shipment. I had my doubts, too. But I think it simply isn't a very vigorous rose. It's technically a hybrid perpetual, but it showed up in the 50's and no one knows anything about its ancestry. Still, mine grew well last year, if not spectacularly, and I got my first bloom this week. Trussssst me, it was worth the wait! Gorgeous, deep, dark, velvety red, going purple and finished almost as blue, if much darker, as my Blue For You. I can't wait for more so I can see all the colors at once.

Mine that I got from longago was pretty vigorous I thought. .may it also had an extra boost because I grow Rose's up to a bigger size before planting them in the ground. Not sure. I hope yours pick up some growth for you. Maybe you can give it a weak solution of fish emulsion too. Maybe that would help pick it up? Ask someone else to be sure.

Thanks everyone for your advice. I will contact ARE. Like I said, all of the other roses in my shipment, I think it was a total of 9 plants, were lush and full. Granny must be sleeping!

Maybe she got the name granny for being slow. lol
