Have it fixed. Did a pro tiler do it? If so, have it redone. If not, redo it yourself.

The installer should have centered the first tile behind the sink. In the photo it doesn't look centered, that's why the cuts on the sides of the window don't match.

It looks right to me. The cuts look different because of where the window on the right side lines up - it’s right along the grout line. I think if you wanted it to look the same on both sides you’d have had to plan it from where the tile starts on the wall/backsplash before it reaches the window. If it were me I’d leave it the way it is!

It’s fine. Relatively minor in the scheme of things. No one will ever notice it.

Was the pattern centered on something else?

The tile can't be centered on everything unless everything is centered on a dimension that is a multiple of the tile itself. So if the tile is 6", everything would have to be centered on 6"x ___ to center everything on the tile layout.

If you wanted the tile centered on the window specifically, I guess that should have been discussed in advance.

If you use grout that matches the tile this will not be noticeable really, sometimes that appearance to the right of the window with no vertical appears in a layout and can't be avoided.

It is centered above the sink. There is no way to centered it above the sink an on the sides. How is he supposed to do that and have it look right both ways? I would much rather have it centered over the sink. It is more noticeable there. You will probably have a window covering won't you?

as you wouldnt want a vertical grout line really close to the edge, on either side, with a little ittybitty bit of tile... this is the compromise. when its grouted it will be far less obvious.

I think it looks good. Also, once trim is up, will that grout line on the left even show?

My guess is that the installer began tiling on another wall, and continued around to this wall. If you want it centered on the window and sink, they will likely have to tear it all out and redo. I'm not sure that it's something that is worth the cost, and, frankly, if it wasn't discussed prior to installation, I don't think you can expect them to do for free.

its the march of the vertical grout lines. with your eye, shift the tile one way or the other....,there isnt a way to get them to match...except with slivers on both sides, which wouldnt look good at all. anyway, grout and be happy, lots of new and exciting things to look at in your redo.

It's fine, but your installer should have planned that out a bit better so it was centered as far as the pattern is concerned. Some installers are just not that in tune with details like that. Is it grouted yet? I would grout with a color matching grout & it will all disappear & look great.

Thank you everyone for the feedback, I really appreciate it! To answer your questions, this is installed professionally, they did a great job with the rest of the house. He started the tiles on another wall where there’s open shelving, and that wall is done beautifully, but I think it also affects the ‘flow’ of the tiles design to this wall. This has been grouted, I wish not, then I would’ve asked him to grout same color as the tiles. Anyway, this is not something we discussed with him. So we decided to leave this as is. Thanks again!!

Hang a panel curtain on either side of the window.....tile ..gone hiding behind the panel curtain. Someone had exterior brick the same way...it all landed on the side of the house from both directions with a mortar line from top to bottom...????weird. Yes. The way he does things....planted a crepe myrtle......hidden line of mortar....Yes, the same color grout as tile would have made the difference. Someday you can probably bleach or paint the grout lines to match?? (Not! LOL). Enjoy the rest of the experience, and may this be the worse flaw you find along the way!!!!

Redo the left side to eliminate the joins in the narrow area.

Redo the left side, this should be an easy fix as only the 4 split tiles on the left would need to be changed out. Then it will match the other side nicely.

Strange that the tile pattern was not centered around the window, which I assume is the focal point in this wall? This might bother me a bit but probably not enough to have it redone.

marta... have a close look. if you shift the pattern to the right, to center it, you end up with slivers of tile on both sides. 5 on each side. this is actually something people complain about here in dilemmas... i think either the tile installer was stupidly lucky to avoid that, or deliberately did the pattern exactly this way to the millimeter.
