I do not see the Carrara marble tiles blending well with the arabesque wall (?) tile. The wall tile looks warm while the arabesque pulls greys /blacks. INstead of 3 tiles going on there can you get it down to 2?

a lot going on, gray grout. my opinion is a bathroom are for a human yet ridiculous purpose. go wild with color, don't play it safe.

I am a bit confused, can you please clarify?

Is the herringbone for the room floor?

What is the arabesque for, the room wall or for the shower wall, or for both?

What are the marble subway tiles for? Are they for the entire shower? The shower walls? The shower walls and floor?

In any event, those arabesque tiles have too much tan color in them, they don't go with the more grey tones of the other tiles.

Maybe a large format marble tile would work well as the wall tile in the shower instead of the arabesque if that is what you wanted the arabesque for.

Also, this isn't really a powder room, it is a bathroom, since it has a shower.

Is that mirror going to be wide enough?

Can you find a mirror with an interesting shape that is not truncated in the middle?

And about the sconce-

Yes, they say that brass is in now, but does that mean it will be out soon, like the gold fixtures of some years ago?

Would a silvery or nickel finish ultimately have more staying power in a marble bathroom?

I agree that the arabesque tile, mirror and light fixture do not go with the basket weave and the Carrara tiles both in color and style. I think it would be great if you just used the basket weave on the floor and the Carrara tiles on the walls. Pick a mirror with a little less going on and a light fixture with silver tones and you'll have something fresh, versatile and timeless. You can add any color you want for current trends around these choices by changing the things that are less expensive.

To clarify: the arabesque is for the bathroom wall which the mirror and sconces will go on as well. The 3x6s are for the shower walls and basket weave is for the floors (both shower and bathroom).

I kind of have to use this mirror. I bought it for this project 3 years ago and unfortunately can not be returned or exchanged.

I haven’t yet chosen a color for the vanity or countertop. I wanted to figure out the tiles first, then choose those next.

The arabesque tile is pretty, but clashes with the basketweave and the rectangular tile. Those two tiles look great together.

If you want the arabesque tile, I think you need to give up the other two. And should have a plain mirror.

Maybe you just have a "crush" on the arabesque tile? But that doesn't mean it is the best choice. I went through a design crush recently with a rug I loved but it just was not right for my room. The rug I finally purchased makes the room look lovely and balanced.

That's even more too much! Plain white would work best, keeping focus on the marble. Here are some ideas:

Ok the same marble comes in a 6x12 (below). I think I’ll use that for the wall. The 3x6s are beveled so I’m only using them for the shower.

If I kept the arabesque for the wall, and got rid of the basket weave for the floor and exchanged it with the plain 6x12. Would that still be too busy?

Still think the arabesque does't seem to have the same undertones as the marble - it's warmer. The arabesque would look good with a solid off-white or white, whatever matches the white strip.

I also like the idea of the basketweave floor and the plain 6x12 for the wall. That would be classic and elegant.

It might be the photos sent and coloring, but the arabesque looks to have tans, beige in it instead of the typical grays and white of marble. If it truly is a match of background and includes gray, then I would do either the busy basketweave on floor or busy arabesque on the walls. Both are so beautiful but will probably be too much in the same space. Also we don’t have photos of your room to know how big it is or how much of the wall is covered with tile? If the arabesque comes all the way down and touches the floor that would be too much. Look at the sample photos sent and try to imagine the two coming together. So yes, perhaps a solid larger tile matching the shower for the walls might be just the match.

I like a larger marble tile for the shower wall, the larger the better. I like the size of the tiles in P Banos's photo.

I love the basket weave for the floor.

I don't know how large the wall is in the bathroom, and I don't know how large this mirror is, but here is a mirror that has some glamour if that is what you are looking for-

Maybe it is too much for your space?

Maybe you can find a similar mirror with a similar fancy edge like the above mirror, that is not so wide, if the above is too much for you.

By the way, I am absolutely in love, love, love with shades of blue tiles in a bathroom. They look like the tilework of the middle East, N. Africa, and Turkey.

However, they are for a very individual taste, and down the road may make it more difficult for you to sell your house.

If those shades of blue and that style idiom are what you love, maybe you can indulge them in accessories that can be easily switched later on.

(Oriental carpets, Moroccan lanterns, occasional tables of inlaid wood and bone, decor items in shades of blue, etc.)

Your mirror with the arch has an attractive shape, but an insufficient frame. It is like hanging art without a frame, or an eye with out an eyebrow.

Bathroom mirrors that are part of medicine cabinets often have no "frame," but if you want a really decorative look, why not try to find something that has the look of a frame incorporated in it.

You can also look at Venetian glass mirrors if you like that idiom.

Loobab— here is an image of the current shower. It’s small. What size tile would be good? The marble is available in 3x6 (which my husband really like the beveled look), 4x12, 6x12, 8x16, 6x18, 12x12, 12x24, 9x18, 16x16.

And what size for the wall?

Your choices for the bathroom looks pretty glamorous. Would you consider chrome lighting? It would look stunning with that mirror!

Why don't you use the square mirror that you already have and figure out a great frame to put around it? That might save you money, too.

There is a company that makes frames just to put around bathroom mirrors.

Does that shower have a wall with a weird angle?

if so, maybe you want to pick a tile size that arithmetically lets you place tiles across that back wall without having to cut any, the way you have the tiles there now.

I really want the gold to pop against the marble like shown below.

Loobab— I don’t want to use the current mirror. It’s very large and outdated. Why would I frame it and make it even bigger and hide all the marble behind it??
